So even the mighty pep

Adjusted his normal game plan to play us at Anfield. I thought I would never see that!

That was apparently Pep's lowest possession percentage and he admitted to slow the game and play extra passes.

It nearly paid of for them and they controlled some deep passages of the game. Looking forward to see what they do at the Ethihad against us. Pep does not seem to want to go full pelt against us.

With regards to us I hope Klopp rotates a bit more. The front three are not functioning well and these tough run of games has thankfully come to an end.

On side note Chelsea looking good and Arsenal putting on a nice run of wins. Very tight atm with those top 5 teams.

ok but you dont see any issues with salah for example?

what i find funny is you all refuse to discuss it, but seeing your mtch thread you all see issues, but because im not a pool fan apparently you cant discuss it with me

too early in the season ben to be worrying about salah. He will come good when team starts playing better, its a team game

Salah was never going to succeed in the Prem. It is far too physical for him and he just gets bullied. This is not your pathetic Series A where you can score 25 goals a season. This is the F-ing Prem. And he has flopped.

Guys it is very hard to reason sometimes with a member of the cult.

deflection again, like a bunch of beachballs

When someone tries to give you an explanation you call it deflection. So why don’t you just tell us what you want to hear, then you can maybe feck off and stop boring us to death.

pep adjusted his style........flopp took up Jose's

2 shots on goal at home....no wins in 4.....but listening to the scousers...nothing to worry about

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Slightly concerning but nothing major to worry about just yet. We've had some very tough games recently and things get a bit easier now, on paper anyway. If we still struggle against the likes of Huddersfield and Cardiff then it will be a concern.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
finally, a grown up.

you should smash them both, but id be thinking maybe get salah out and give shaq a run? salahs confidence looks shot
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah I would swap Shaqiri for Salah as well. Sturridge probably deserves a start too but I would be loath to swap two of the three at the same time.

There are clearly two sides to this argument.

One is that thus far this season, Liverpool certainly haven't been one of the top two attacking sides. They're currently fifth for goals scored, fifth for shot taken, and third for shots on target.

The other is that the sample size (in term of number of games) is still very small, and Liverpool have played three of the top teams in the division, against which you'd normally expect lower attacking returns.

You don't have to be a fan of any particular club to point either of these out, but to make out it's a crisis of sorts is rather soft ground to be standing on.

why do you guys find it so hard to answer simple questions?

how many did you score v city last at home last year?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You don’t know?

So because we put 4 past them last season you think we should’ve done the same this? I’ll repeat, City were 15 points ahead of us when we played them last season. The result had no bearing on losing ground with them in a title challenge. Yesterday it did.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's also worth pointing out that at least 2 of those goals resulted from individual error by City players, losing or giving the ball away in dangerous positions.

Yesterday's result was about City looking at where they had issues last season and taking measures to prevent them re-occurring.

In short, City were pretty much error free yesterday. This made a massive difference to the outcome and is why we didn't have a goal glut, like last season.

On balance, I think City deserved to win yesterday with a much improved team performance compared to last season's debacle.

Liverpool clearly have plenty to offer this season. Going to be interesting.

thats what i dont get. They keep saying tough run, but theyve approach all these games like an inferior side, hoping to not get beat.

seems weird for a team who wants to win the league, surely youd be like we're gonna smash you as we're superior especially at home
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well no, we’ve approached the games against Chelsea and City likes team that didn’t fair well against their rivals last season and had decided to be more pragmatic in those games in order not to lose ground in a title race.

Sensible IMO and shows Klopp has a bit of tactical nous. Pep did the same thing yesterday as well on the back of last seasons matches in the league and CL. Jose did the same against West Ham and Brighton.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Agreed Annie

Sometimes you just have to cut your cloth and be pragmatic.

Liverpool had nothing to lose last season in the corresponding fixture and were able to knock City out of their stride.

Given the lessons that should have been learned from last season, City were always going to put more of a focus on the defensive side of the game yesterday and employ ways to stifle Liverpool's attack first and attack second.

Not unhappy with a point but thought City edged it and probably deserved the 3. Wasn't to be.

We go again in a fortnight.

.................

Fancy that, a manager figuring out how to stop you playing your game.
