Agree with Eddie about earning the right to be in the PL but there is a reason why we are on TV, should be a million pound per game on sky,

Worst ones are them that complain about sky, and wish it was like the good old days.

Yeah the good old days of the 80s

Watching football in death traps, in half empty stadiums, where 15k was a good crowd.

When for woman and kids it wasn’t a good place to watch football

Police treated you like animals.

The football was utter garbage, watching poor footballers play on ploughed fields. People only went for the crack and a few pints. The football was shocking.

A time, when you struggled to get even highlights, never mind been able to watch a live away game, where you relied on the paper the next day to know what the game was like.

There a lot of things not perfect now, but sky saved football in this country.

I was going to try and argue against most of what you put - 15k crowds? not sure that bit is correct, but overall I get your point.

Sky has indeed brought financial clout and led to huge improvements to the football experience in this country. They want something for it mind - normally our fixtures !!

I always thought you was abit older than me, so surprised you can’t remember the low crowds

Am too young but know my history

I suspect I am older than you (in my 50s) but for most parts of the 80's I was abroad, so didn't get to too many footie matches - or watch them on TV for that matter.

So true about the atmosphere for kids and women at matches, not to mention anyone of any race. Soooooo much has improved on all those fronts and yes, I suspect the footie is better (not sure all the players are mind). I'd love to see some of the players of the 70s/80s performing in current teams, with current pitches and training methods.

There's some bang average players being paid kings ransoms in the modern game if we're being honest.

totally agree with this.... but I'm sure you were moaning about sky sports not so long ago?

I don’t like that so many matches are moved. I find it ridiculous that Chapions League now has two kick off times. Think it’s so unfair of the fans going to the game.

But I don’t blame Sky for this. They are just trying to make their product as good as possible for their customers.

And the positives far out weigh the negatives.

At the end of the day. They wouldn’t be able to bid so much for the rights if they couldn’t show as many games as they do. Therefore the premier league and football league couldn’t sell the rights for so much if they didn’t move as many fixtures.

And so at the end of it all. If we didn’t move as many fixtures the losers would be the football clubs who wouldn’t have as much prize money to play for.

I do think it would be worth consider changing the law on no football to be shown live between 3 & 5 on a Saturday. Not sure how much it really effects participation anymore. Have a couple of games on live at proper kick off time and avoid so much disruption for the fans.

Anyone who's been going for the last decade or so, bar the odd occasion, certainly hasn't been going for the entertainment !!

This season has brought back entertainment and atmosphere to the place .......
