I think only Toby, Dele and Dier can be counted as very very good, all have been first picks
Wanyama had one good season, Son the same, Sanchez played OK last season.
Trippier and Davies both very average
Aurier, Moura, Foyth and Gazzanga have not had enough games
The rest of them pretty poor.

Definitely need to broaden our horizons as far as where we look to buy players. I don't know whether the scouts aren't the greatest scouts or if they're being held back somewhat in what they can do.
We should look at the Bundesliga more closely, I mean there have been some recent successes come from there into the PL, including Son.

it all point to me that we are not quite doing enough scouting, research into players, and maybe going for the cheaper option too many times, not quite good enough

Another issue is a lot of those players who we assumed would continue to improve as they got older have actually either stagnated or regressed

Levy must have £60 flights or 80 min travel time restrictions in place. Either that or we’ve got the worst scouts in the PL. Pretty sure all of us on this thread could have said ‘yes’ to Alderweireld, Wanyama, Davies if asked if we should sign them.
