Reiss Luke Nelson

Nelson joined Bundesliga side Hoffenheim on loan and has impressed with two goals in eight appearances so far under Julian Nagelsmann.

‘It was difficult,’ he told Talksport of his decision to leave north London. ‘Arsenal is my boyhood club, they’re a big part of my life. ‘At the end of the day I’m at an age where I want to play football and Hoffenheim is where that [chance] was. I had to get up and be strong, be independent and take my chance in Germany.

We hope he will improve and can be the next Raheem Sterling etc.

Him and Nketiah needs to get more playing time but I doubt they will get it at Arsenal this season. At least not until we shift some players out anyway.

Eddie will probably go on loan in January. Then those two will replace Welbeck and Ramsey next season.

I like Nelson but I'm not sure he is ready to replace Ramsey.
Eddie though should be ahead of Welbeck in picking order.

Add to that the Smith Rowe factor...

Replace as in take his squad place. We have Ozil and Mhkitaryan already in terms of Ramseys first team place.

Yeah, the idea of Nelson and Smith Rowe being 'replacements' for Ramsey would have many Gooners up in arms.

But then there's also people wanting to see more youth players coming through the ranks, so it's a balancing act keeping these guys happy.

For this reason alone, dropping out of the CL could well prove to be a blessing in the long run.

Difficult act to balance. I guess if we were performing well (or really really bad), then I'd be more than happy to see the youngsters more involved. But we are in a transitional period and I think we need our experience players to stabilise the ship.
I read something about Carrick the other day, him saying that Wenger turned him down because of a 16 years old Cesc. Even in hindsight, I think that was still the best decision but back then we are at the top, so that wasn't much of a risk.

Surely a transitional period is when you bring through youngsters? When you are doing well it usually means less chances for kids. When you are doing badly it isa bad situation to put kids into.
We have a lot of experience with the likes of Cech, Sokratis, Mustafi, Monreal, Xhaka, Auba, Ozil, Laca, Mkhi, Ramsey, Welbeck.
Despite Bellerin, Holding, Torreira, Guendouzi and Iwobi, I would say the balance is tipped heavily on experience and it wouldnt harm the squad to bring a couple of youngsters into it.

Nelson is really looking good. A couple of marvellous finishes in the bundesliga. I know it was Andorra youth, but he had some lovely touches in that game, aswell as the goal. Hope he can crack into the hoffeheim starting xi soon. Be really useful if he turns out to be top class, then we can invest in other areas (like CB).

Him, ESR, AMN, and Nketiah all look good, and determined to make an impression. Bodes well.

Barcelona took risk on young potentials like Xavi, Iniesta, Messi, Busquet, Pedro etc and they cost them nothing and ended up dominating Europe, we should 100% blood in the young ins like Riess, Nketiah, Smith-Rowe, Niles etc why not? We
