having a couple of pints in a pub around Trafalgar Square with a few friends, when a couple of demos came by. One was by the FLA (I made a discreet enquiry), the Football Lads Alliance, some came in the pub for a drink, they were reasonably well behaved, but they were all white shaven headed fellas, who apparently are marching to save the country. There was no trouble around us, but I heard they were fronted up by some other demo, and there was a bit of trouble. They did look like they were looking for trouble, rather than just marching and putting their point over, whatever that was. Are they really speaking for us? They looked and sounded like a bunch of racists from what I overheard. Any other supporter know much about them?
Mind you I did wonder why we were all drinking out of plastic glasses and their were bouncers on the door at 3pm in the afternoon.

The grooming scandal is not as straight forward as you make it sound. The fear of being called a Islamophobe would have not been the biggest reason why the abuse was being overlooked for so long. The bigger reason would have been that people in authority would have been caught up in the scandal.
On another note, the left-right dichotomy is also too over simplified. There are a spectrum of people out there with different views, and strawmanning views the left, is just as the same as when someone says all "Brexiters are racists".

i would probably have guessed it was the police, councillors etc. After all, the other frightening part of the scandal is how many girls there were - which to me indicates that far more than just the muslim community were involved.

Majority are white but the most proportionally are ‘Asian’ men. We euphemistically refer to them as Asian even though none of them are Chinese, Japanese or Korean.

Not quite sure how you drew that conclusion Sizz. I haven't placed either on order of the seriousness of their offences.
I was making the point that authoritative institutions (police / social workers etc) are afraid or unwilling to speak about the predominantly Islamic young men who proportionally commit higher number of offences.
