While the Pool fans are here. Moreno leaving on a free seems like bad planning? Quite a competent, yet mismanaged, player. Who is your backup LB now? Milner?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

He is far from a competent back up. He is an awful defender that has mistakes in him every game. The only bad planning is not selling him for 10 million or so. As for our back up left back, you are aware that we are able to buy players in the summer?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I don't see any more mistakes in him than any other attacking minded wingback pre-good management. Some players (Rose, Valencia, Moses) have been way worse defensively and developed into good fullbacks. I still think he can be coached into a good fullback.
Admittedly I thought the rumour was for him leaving in Jan, rather than in the summer. I do agree that you can probably purchase a ready-made player/backup quite easily next summer.
Ta for a good response though.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Then I'm afraid you haven't been looking hard enough. It's not even some of the things that may be more complex to spot in a match like positioning etc Moreno plays like a 10 year old at time. He gets drawn into tackles that he has no chance of making. He gets himself the wrong side of the attacker at thrown ins, he makes tackles from impossible angles that will only ever result in a foul. Simply, the guy has zero football intelligence.
He has all the physical assets to very good. He genuinely isn't in the same ball park defensively as the attacking full backs you have mentioned though. He's genuinely the worst "defender" I have ever seen play for us.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I don't really know the specific moments you are talking about, admittedly I probably haven't seen those games. Yet I am of the belief that to be a good FB these days you need to be athletic, a decent enough dribbler, high energy, tenacious, and have the ability to do whatever the manager tells you.

It is the position where you have the most space and need the least positional awareness. I really do believe he can become a good FB but time will tell.

Lool what a tackle. Totally took him out. But He got the ball clean should never been a yellow.

It’s amazing how Ramos didn’t cause an injury to Dier. After what he did to Salah that an is an animal.

Great tackle, but the sort that’s fair but not common in international football.

Don't punish players for getting the ball though.

.................

You do know that you can get the ball and deliberately nobble your opponent, don't you?

I got away with doing it for twenty five years.

Didn't see the game but nothing wrong with that tackle. A bit pointless in terms of the game but that type of tackle can change an atmosphere and lift the crowd.

Jordan should have had a FK. You can see the Spanish lad lean in with his elbow as they tangle and he put his weight behind it to make sure Jordan gets the full force.
