Rumour - Apu to be dropped from The Simpson

If this happens The Simpsons can feck off. Will lose a lot of respect from me.

A show created to be a little politically incorrect and purposely full of stereotypes is now being targeted because some nobodies want to boost their careers by claiming Apu is offensive.

World gone mad.

It's tough to think of a single character in the Simpsons that isn't a stereotype. Then you have the individual episodes where they make fun of every major country or culture.

No coincidence that as things has got more politically correct, funny tv shows like the Simpsons have become crapper and crapper

In response to the OP yes I would hope that anyone of sound mind finds this debacle ridiculous.

However...

The Simpsons should have fecked off by 1998 or 1999 at the latest. Since then the few I have seen have been dreadful, filled with "celebrities", the 3d-ish cartoon style looks awful and all in all not a patch on the first 8-10 years in which a lot of the episodes were brilliant with strong stories and/or morals. I could watch the old ones any day of the week and be transported back to the 90's when as a kid I would check the tv guide to make sure I didnt miss it.

Also for those who are/were fans of the Simpsons there is one episode in particular that the big fans tend to agree was where the magic, respect or whatever you want to call it was lost forever. I can't remember if I managed to work it out myself but when I found out I remember thinking that even as a kid that the episode in question didn't sit well and I do agree that it was the turning point.

Feel free to get those cogs whirring

The Simpsons should not get rid of Apu. I can understand some people of Indian descendants in the Us having an issue with him. But like it had been mentioned all the characters are stereotypes.

The show does need to end. I found Futurama a better show when it came out than the Simpsons. Shame it's not been continued.

They need to end it or start a whole new one. Homer has a decent house and works at a nuclear plant. I think there is a new generation growing up who can't relate to some of the issues being presented.

The episode you’re referring to is the “principal and the pauper”

This is widely regarded as the end of the Simpson’s s9e2

Yeah, and when you look back now that episode feels like a classic compared to the garbage that still comes.

I read it was the one with Frank Grimes in it as at the end Homer doesn't show much humanity towards the dead Grimey.

Don't watch it much now but late 90s/early 2000s I thought it was brilliant and at its peak.

Sure it was this one, yes, where Principal Skinner is revealed as an imposter. Apparently the makers felt something happen straight away. But there have been classic episodes since.

That’s one of the best ever episodes, no chance that episode signalled the downward spiral unless you mean because they wouldn’t top it.

Show has been total dogs1ht for two decades now. This news might have mattered in the mid 90's when it was still worth watching.
