Euro Super League!!

Der Speigel claims Real Madrid has joined forces with AC Milan, Arsenal, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Juventus and Manchester United to form a group of seven sides who went behind the back of Uefa, European football's governing body, to discuss forming a European Super League.

The new competition, it is claimed, would involve 11 of Europe's biggest clubs, known as the "founders", along with five "initial guests".

The so-called founders, who would include the seven clubs named above along with Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City and Paris St-Germain, would not face relegation and would be guaranteed membership for 20 years.

Der Speigel reports that the five "initial guests," according to the document, would be Atletico Madrid, Borussia Dortmund, Inter Milan, Marseille and Roma.

The newspaper claims leaked documents show the breakaway league could be created in 2021 and see clubs involved leave their national leagues and football associations.

Lol I like how no one has mentioned how difficult it would be for us the fans to get to games, because we don't go to games. Lol

The majority of these clubs have fans are used to being the top team in their league and winning trophies.

Imaging going from that to being one of the whipping boys of the super league.

Also playing against another European elite club once/twice a season is a buzz and normally a huge event. If it turns into a weekly event then the novelty would wear off pretty quickly.

Lastly the expense of travelling to away games all over Europe would mean there would be minimal away support meaning the atmosphere at games are most likely to be terrible.

Just on your comment on the away support. Most of the clubs being targeted are global brands who have huge support every where mostly in the world, don’t think they will worry bout a few thousand from England or wherever who can’t make it.

Agree with everything you said. I’m personally not a fan of this, this will destroy a lot of the smaller clubs who need the big boys in there leagues.

I am for it, rather we play PSG, Bayern, Madrid than Burnley or Cardiff, my opinion.

Might be the point to walk away from the sport altogether tbh.

A long, long way away from the group of guys who player after their shifts at the Woolwich Arsenal. I know we are already but this is a bridge too far.

Liverpool and Spurs can't even win the English league, so what would be the point of them joining a super one?

This is a disgusting idea. Greedy bunch of idiots. Plus we’d only get walloped week in week out.

I love the idea of a European super league, the best playing the best week in week out. A league format is much better than the way the CL is set up atm. Not a fan of no relegation but have 3 or 4 leagues with promotion and relegation.
