With questions marks over every position, including the goalkeeper, how has a defence that was pretty well the best in the Prem for two or three seasons, become frankly like a pub defence, although they are not conceding huge amounts, more down to luck than anything else. Could easy have conceeded half a dozen on Saturday, Hugo had a decent game, so still our best goalie by a distance in my opinion.
With Trippier becoming an immovable object, it doesn`t bode well for the future. Poch really doesn`t fancy Aurier, and Trippier by default has somehow managed to become undroppable in Prem games at least. The central defence not so worried about, choice of Verts, Toby, Sanchez, any two from three is OK, with young Foyth doing OK, and good to at least see him getting some game times. The left back position is about as bad as the right back one. Rose is always injured, Davies just not good enough, and KWP gets chances.
Does the club just have to spend some money, and buy two quality full backs, and dump all the present lot? Sooner or later something has to give with Trippier and Davies on borrowed time in my opinion. Fortunately the forwards are starting to get their mojo back, so will always score goals. Question is how can Spurs make it that much easier for themselves at seeing out games. It cannot be allowed to continue, the continual collapsing in the last 20 minutes of games with poor defending.
Summing up, Trippier, Rose and Davies need to be moved on. Two new fullbacks purchased. KWP and Aurier as back ups.

I think the main problem with the defence actually lies in midfield.
The starting three in CM v Wolves were Winks, Dembele and Sissoko, none of whom are defensively minded. Dembele came off for Son and we were left with just Winks and Sissoko, hence the absolute chaos.
Davies and Trippier are fine in a back 5, but if we are to play 433 consistently we either need better fullbacks or a quality DM. If Wanyama can’t get back to form then we need to spend some money.
You need to stop with the Trippier and Davies bashing, Sandy. They’re decent players who have a role to play against certain teams or in certain systems. Maybe they aren’t good enough to start in a back 4 v Barca or City, but that doesn’t mean we should offload them on the cheap. Replace Rose who is crocked and reinforce CM and I think we’re fine defensively.

KWP was bullied by WHU the other day. Looked weak and not particularly quick either.
I'd keep Rose and have him fight it out with a better LB.

Rose is a problem these days, he used to be top class but is now injury prone and has a chip on his shoulder about his wages. This means Davies has to play more often, who is a good back up but not top drawer. Same with Trippier really, except Aurier is still to prove himself as top notch.

Defence is a problem.
Lloris - the odd worldy cant change the fact that he is becoming an error prone liability with awful distribution.
vorm - rubbish
gazza - I like him as number 2, but the fact that poch has him behind vorm eithers means that hes awful, or that poch doesn't know what hes doing.
aurier - should be first choice RB, but I don't trust him in any big game
Trippier - no idea what has happened to him. needs dropping.
Foyth - quite like him but hes one for future
Sanchez - remains a good signing, and still very young. very bright future.
Aldy - regressed
Verts - injured
Rose - always injured, and regressed
Davies - regressed.
dunno whats happened to the fullbacks as in the past we have all agreed that Poch seems to improve fullbacks.
