That’s one of the craziest decisions ever seen last night, the ref linesman and the official behind the goal “what are they there for" missed sterling’s trip on the turf.

Even with pep telling the fourth official it wasn’t a penalty it was given.

It’s up there with some other whoppers, the sending off of the wrong player for arsenal has to be up there, the hand of god is still talked about to this day.

Can’t remember the teams but it was a championship game where the ball hit the back of the net bounced out the ref missed the goal, it couldn’t have been more over the line.

Var is needed to stop these high profile blunders.

What others can you remember?

Remember the carol incident where he hooked the ball out of his net against spurs wasn’t it.

I remember that their was great debate at the time about it,and I'm sure that it helped sway the argument ,but didn't we play with a white ball in those days ?

We had a white ball in that game ,and their was debate about white balls as well !

Once the ref gave the decision to give the penalty he cannot change his mind, unless the official on the goal line told him that Raheem had tripped over his own feet.
I still don't see why the official that is on the goal line is on the same side as the official that runs the touchline. Surely it would be better for him to be on the other side of the goal then the officials have all the penalty area covered for corners and free kicks that are outside the box and are launched into the penalty area. If the official was on the other side of the box he would have been able to tell the ref that it was not a penalty, and that play should just carry on.

One of the funniest things I've seen on the pitch, fortunately it had no effect on the game.

I could imagine the uproar if we had only just sneaked a win or even drawn last night.

Sterling would be number one on Interpol's most wanted.

I remember Reading being a goal against Watford even though the ball was about 5 yards wide!

Was the player castigated for not telling the ref?
