It might have been 28 years since Liverpool won the league, but there is one way in which it does dominate its Premier League competitors: in the popularity stakes.
New data from YouGov Ratings shows that the five-time European Cup winners are the most popular football team in the English Premier League, with 35% of Britons having a favourable opinion of the club. One quarter of Brits (26%) see the club in unfavourable terms (quite possibly Manchester United or Everton supporters) and 34% have a neutral opinion. Only 5% of Brits say they have never heard of the team.

So across the country, Liverpool are supposedly the most liked team, followed by Leicester and then Manchester United, with Spurs in sixth.
Interesting to see that Arsenal are more disliked than us across the country - I imagine Man United's huge fan base helped with that. Fans of West Ham, Chelsea and Arsenal live in a London bubble and bang on about how disliked Spurs are up and down the country, just because the three of them can't stand us.

I think a lot of the "love" for Liverpool emanates from Hillsborough and the fight to get justice for the 96 people who tragically died then.
It was similar after the Manchester United Munich air crash, when the club had the whole country rallying around them.

Leicester winning the PL obviously increased their profile and of course we all like an under dog.
If the poll was over the past week, then one could also assume their likeability factor increased exponentially because of the helicopter crash

Edbo, to be honest mate, these surveys are such a total nonsense. I have yet to find anybody who likes Liverpool, other than Liverpool fans, and have yet to find anybody at all that hates clubs like Fulham.

Well me for one. I've always liked Liverpool. JA doesn't reflect the reality. They've always been great fans when they come to WHL, inside and outside of the ground. Liverpool is a great away day. And their European nights are up there with Celtic (ours at WHL are special too).

Also Spurs would have only qualified for three of the five years they were banned.
