The difference in quality

all over the pitch (other than keeper) is gigantic.

Absolute gulf in class and it really is incredible just how far we are behind them. I can't see this gap being closed in the next few years.

I know Lukaku won the pen but other than that he was absolutely dreadful. I just can't see how he can make it at United.

Midfield of Fellaini, Matic and Herrera is absolute banter. The Silva's were taking the pi33 out of then.

Defence is really weak all over. Smalling especially has been tragic the last few weeks. Young was shiyte for us eight years ago and yet he's still a perma starter.

Genuinely feel sorry for DDG. He deserves to win the biggest trophies and it's not gonna manage that with us.

Didn't expect to win this game but to see the absolute difference in quality on and off the pitch is disheartening. I just don't see us closing the gap in the next few years.

Stat:

After 12 games they have a plus 31 goal difference

We have minus 1.

Their squad is on a different level to ours.

Not the money wasted on players it’s your manager and club doesn’t know what your style and way you f playing is.

All banter aside you must agree on that.

Don't think any of us reds have ever disagreed with this. It's a weird situation as nobody seems to know what they're doing. Just seem to go out into games without a real plan really and rely on big moments to get us through.

We went into this game in 8th place in the league. We didn't need the derby game to know there's a gulf in class between the two squads. We've wasted so much money on mediocre players it's scary.

To defend jose tho. Pep made errors with bravo and nolito. He was given money to replace them, jose hasnt.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

He's been given more money than Jose but Jose has had more than enough to get us closer than this too. It's definitely not just down to money. City have spent wiser and had a plan too.

Good answer and that has to go down to the manager.

He’s had how long now?

Too long for me now.

However I don't think failing to finish in front of this City team is a blight on his record at all. However the way we play and the way he's treated some of our players hasn't been good to see.

I can't see him being here next season and we can only hope the next guy gets us a hell of a lot closer to you lot which we should be really given that we are one club who can actually match your spending.

For all the things I dislike about City as a club right now, you can only but admire the way they play the game. Great football.

No gripes about the result today whatsoever but how on earth does Fernandinho get away with the constant fouling?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

He had the same number of fouls as Lingard did.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah, completely comparable fouls...

Pep has a group of players superbly proficient at committing well-timed, well-performed professional fouls for players who have never been instructed to commit professional fouls.

The comment i replied to said constant fouling, hence why I pointed out the quantity.

In terms of professional fouls, he didn’t really do that today that much as he didn’t need to, you didn’t bother with a transition phase when you attacked most of the time. When you did, he won the ball back without committing a foul.

He had one tackle today that I thought could and shouldhave been a yellow. Having said that though, I thought Smalling was lucky to not get worse (and didn’t get anything at all).

Fernandinho had two absolutely nailed on, counterattack killing, nowhere near the ball, trip from behind fouls today, without a yellow in sight.

Wouldn’t have changed the game, wouldn’t have delivered a different result, but I wonder how many games he’d miss each season through suspension if he were ever picked up on it.

And the idea that Pep has never suggested to his players - not ever, not even once in his career - that there might be times that they might want to consider conceding a free kick to stop a breakaway is a bad joke. Not sure why he thought anyone would believe that particular porkie.

*bravo aside

Agreed. The difference is, Guardiola recognised he'd got it wrong & corrected it with Ederson. Mourinho seems to think if he does the same thing long enough, it'll somehow start working.
Simply making excuses for why it's everyone else's fault is not good enough from a United manager.

I saw one rather than two, but then I also agree with Guardiola that if that’s a yellow, then there should be a lot more given for teams against us too.

In terms of the suspension argument then yes I take the point, although again I’d argue there was one potential red card yesterday and that wasn’t for us...
