It's not all bad news boys......

Yeah the first team is crap and Jose seemingly has ran out of excuses and ideas......

But on the upside our U18/19's continue to look absolutely class. Every chance of winning their league (3pts off top with game in hand) and one of the favs for the Uefa Youth League title. Just beat Juventus 4-1 at home and drew 2-2 in Turin.

Chong, Gomes, Greenwood, Traore & Galbraith look the stand out players to me of the new batch of young talent we have but some other good players in there too. They are a real joy to watch too. Refreshing really given the tripe served up by Jose.

Might be a blessing for us too. We're going to have a big culture shift at the club in the very near future I feel, well I certainly hope so anyway. Hopefully we can appoint the right type of manager who is going to benefit from these types of players.

Be exciting to go back to our roots and promote from within again, coupled with trying to pick out the odd gem from abroad.

Greenwood is killing it for the youth teams this season. Has 17 goals and 6 assists in 14 games. Scored on his debut for the under 23’s. Looks only a matter of time before he’s promoted to that side from what I can gather. We lack a striker in that team and Greenwood is quite clearly too good to be playing at u18 level.

Yeah seems that way.

McKenna apparently played a big part in the development of a lot of our young lads. Not really seen his influence in the first team yet but then we do have ultra pragmatic Jose and a load of crap to work with. Not the best.

Is it a legal requirement for all teams to have a Traore in one of their squads

I think it’s a religious thing. God loves a Traore.

Hard to know the influence if first team coaches, especially when Mourinho is a more hands on manager than for example Fergie was in his latter years.

The club has made a effort to address the academy in recent years with regard to coaching and scouting and it seems to be having some effect.

Need a manager that can help with the progressiob of the young talent we have in the academy. Doesn’t mean we have to drop all these guys in at the deep end and play them regardless, like many advocate when it comes to academy players, but would be nice to have one that can help with their development and actually wants to do this - though that’s not just about the manager anyway it also needs the men at the top to be open to growing pains that entail with such an attitude, this is one of the biggest stumbling blocks as I don’t think the club are willing to have the patience for these things to be seen through.

Was this the ones that got relegated or was that the U23s?

This escalated quickly, your youth team were pants last i heard.

Have you improved to the point to potentially taking the FAYC of us or is it a bit early?

Hard to say, dunno how good the current Chelsea team is. Our youth team doesn’t tend to have the depth of talent that Chelsea’s does so would probably be more effected by the better players moving up to the u23’s.

Greenwood is such a natural finisher, every goal he scores just looks so easy.
