Stadium for 19/20

An old client where I used to work who owns a construction company and is involved in the stadium build has said he doesn't expect it to be all ready until at least March.

Probably why we've taken contingency to play remaining games at Wembley. No football at the new WHL perhaps this season - write off all round.

A good season now is getting top four. I won't even dare get hopes up for a domestic trophy. Hopefully we start getting our act together with the performances and watch some good football because regardless of our results City are just head and shoulders above and won't be overtaken.

Equally, fingers crossed for a genuine transfer policy next summer where we can address some issues and refresh the squad.

In my mind I've sort of accepted that it's not going to be this season now. Though I don't own a season ticket so it doesn't bother me that much.

But I can't quite understand how it is taking SO much longer. There must be big reasons? And how did anyone think it would be ready by the start of the season?

I can't quite buy into the conspiracy theory the the club knew it would take this long all along

Agree with you, been saying it for ages.

Firstly how did the club think we’d build such a large stadium from scratch in 15 months, considering another similar sized stadium in the emirates took 22 months?
Secondly, how the fack does a 15 month project run at least 6 months late? Not as if we suffered from some unforeseen natural disaster such as a facking volcano eruption, it was just plain bad planning and unrealistic expectations being set. Off the back off the mess we’ve made, Brentford actually increased the original timeframe to build their new stadium so as to avoid the embarrassment we’ve faced.

15 months???? In May 17 they demolished WHL but work had begun on construction long before and there was huge progress on the two thirds of the ground.

Some ground works had gone in years ago. So to claim 15 months 'from scratch' is way off the mark. More like double that.

Be nice to think the FA had some ba||s and were able to relegate you three divisions for gross incompetence.

I'd like to see you in a local derby against Crawley.

15 months from when WHL was demolished until the start of this season. If you want to factor in the other stuff you mentioned before it was knocked down then that makes it even worse

Annoying if true...

I've spent the best part of £1k on my season ticket. I get it re-imbursed, but it comes in drips... Chelsea, B'mouth and Southampton games are all being played at Wembley, but you have to wait weeks before you can withdraw it from your ticketmaster account, then have to wait until Spurs decide to transfer the cash - which is usually another few weeks away.

It obvious they're making money on interest this way.

As much as the club will be hailed for the stadium once it’s actually ready, I can’t help but feel many will latch on to the farce surrounding it’s construction in the first place. Well within their rights to do so.

Not in the sense of you saying they were mad to think it would only take 15 months 👍

Interest? Interest is fack all these days, like 0.25% on annual bases and thats generous. Some banks will soon start to charge for having money with them. Dont think that taking interest is some sort of free money pit. Absolutely not.

It was 15 months to build the south stand.

The other three stands were well out of the ground.

I'd say it doesnt make it worse as a 6 month delay in the context of a 3 year project is bad but not as bad as a 6 month over run of a 15 month project.

The fact is that the issue is wiring. STuff that has been installed into the fabric of the building while building works and finishes are applied now has to be re-checked throughout the entire building and replaced in part/full. Despite being a small part of the works its will take a long long time to find the faults and repair them.
