With the news that Kenny Dalglish

has been given a knighthood, and fair enough, excellent player, but isn't it also about time the greatest ever British goalscorer, James Peter Greaves, was also given one, before it is to late?

His European Club goalscoring record has only in recent years been surpassed by Messi and Ronaldo, two freaks of nature, so surely it would be the right thing to do.

Just like the great Billy Nicholson, who was also overlooked for a Knighthood, Jimmy seems to have been overlooked as well.

Time to out the record right queenie, and make Jimmy a Sir.

Jimmy Greaves probably does deserve one for his contributions to the game. But for me Kenny deserves one for his contribution off it surrounding Hillsborough. What he did for the families of ones tragically lost and what he shouldered for the city was above and beyond what any one man should have to.

It’s been a long time coming and I’m very happy for the King that he finally has been recognised.

Greaves seems horrificly underrated by football history just looking at his scoring record. Way too young to have seen him though

Hardly your fault.

Sandy, I cannot believe Billy Nick was not knighted.
Sir Alf Ramsey was. But Billy Nick only got an OBE although he managed Spurs to the 62-63 UEFA Cup winners cup. Of course Ramsey managed the 66 World cup winners.
So both were deserving and only one was recognized.

Of course , ....Sir Jimmy Greaves.

Fair enough he got knighted, look at what he won

But that is nothing compared to the millions he raised for charity and the time he put in to supporting victims of the hillsborough disaster
