is not now going to happen. Should all the plotters, who were scheming to form this breakaway league, firstly be named and shamed, and then expelled from their domestic leagues.
Greed it seems was the order of the day in this ludicrous suggestion that all European leagues should be destabilised to suit the needs of a dozen plasticky clubs for their own greedy needs.
Hopefully this nonsense has now been put to bed once and for all. The domestic leagues are the bread and butter of world football, and god forbid, they should ever be undermined by a few out of touch, sugar daddy clubs.
Apparently the European Super League

I still think it's only a matter of time before something similar is introduced, unfortunately.

Sadly I agree with this.
And when it happens, Spurs fans better pray that their club is involved in it.

If our club was ever involved in something like a breakaway league, then my 60 odd years of support would go in an instance.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yep I’m not in favour of it and wouldn’t renew my season ticket
I’d go and watch Brentford or a non league side

The English game at the top level has moved too far away from that now. I think they're talking about a £2bn asking price for Liverpool. That's a frightening sum and quite frankly nobody is going to pay that - even the ultra-rich. Certainly not a fans group.
I feel for you guys in lots of ways, which might sound daft coming from a Dundee United supporter whose team is buried away in the second tier of Scottish football, but I don't know how you can relate to your clubs anymore. The way your game is has made me lose interest in your league, and that's from someone who used to watch your league week-in, week-out. It's just obscene now.

I don't know why people watch football with how much a player gets paid/transfer fee/club value in the forefront in their mind, especially an impartial viewer.
Surely the quality and entertainment is better than ever, the competition at the top is fierce and there are some quality mid table teams who upset the odds and the battle to survive is more intense than ever. Some good quality football outside the top 6 - Wolves, Bournemouth, Everton etc
As a fan of a club in the league it can be frustrating to watch teams operate without financial limits and buy success, but that does not diminish the quality or entertainment necessarily.
What hurts me the most is the matchday fans. Many everyday sorts being priced out and fair weather fans taking their place. Atmospheres have diminished over the years. Watching the Liverpool Fulham game the other weekend, LFC were winning, going to the summit of the table and you could hear a pin drop. They aint alone.
Clubs have had 10s of millions added to their revenues from ever increasing TV money but still charge ever increasing sums for matchday, to the detriment of atmosphere.
Turkeys don't vote for Christmas. Clubs will never reduce ticket prices. Unless fans vote with their feet.

Surely if that were the case they'd then form this league anyway

If they were named, shamed and expelled from their leagues, I’m sure they’d find a way to create their own super league - mission accomplished....

Just playing Devil's advocate here but do some of you posters on this thread think you're attitude may be different if Spurs were actually invited to the talks?

I honestly couldn’t care less what they get paid to be honest. I don’t feel more or less relatable to them depending on what their pay packet is.

Maybe an answer to this ever present need to milk the poor fan of more money - either by ticket prices, or TV licensing - is to set up a permanent Inter-nations league.
Rather than having a WC every 4 years, which is subject to luck of the draw, one match knock out, etc.
These International breaks which we undergo now could be when the inter-nations league matches are played.
Anyways, just a thought that I'm sure Sandy won't like!
