Ever since Danny Welbecks injury, Eddie Nketiah finds himself as 3rd striker in our squad. However, he has found chances very limited this season - coming on in injury time on Sunday representing his only first team action this season.
At U-23 level he has remained prolific - 6 goals in 7 PL2 games plus a goal off the bench in the EFL Trophy against Coventry.
With Emery taking a very depleted squad to Ukraine, and leaving both Lacazette and Aubameyang at home, Nketiah looks certain to start this evening. The other striker in the squad is the even younger and less experienced Tyreece John-Jules.
The squad has a number of youngsters in it - but Eddie and Emile Smith-Rowe look most likely to start.
Rob Holding is the only senior CB in the squad, so it is possible Zech Medley will get a chance. However, Stephan Lichtsteiner or Mo Elneny could fill in.
Petr Cech should start in goal, with Emi Martinez and Deyan Iliev also in Kiev.
Carl Jenkinson and Ainsley Maitland-Niles look set to be the full backs, especially if Lichtsteiner plays CB. Jordi Osei-Tutu and Dominic Thompson are alternatives. Saying that, AMN could play pretty much anywhere in the XI.
Matteo Guendouzi should partner Mo Elneny, unless the latter is used at CB. Joe Willock is back in the squad, with Charlie Gilmour another option.
The attacking 3 midfield places should be taken up by Henrik Mkhitaryan, Aaron Ramsey and ESR. Bukayo Saka is an option for the wing, although he could also play left back.
It is possible Emery will stick to 3 at the back (Lichtsteiner, Holding, Elneny would seem likely in that scenario)
Hopefully we will get the job done easily enough tonight. Win the group, come home and focus on Sundays game.
Eddies big chance...

Feckin dirty team.
I can understant Xhaka as he has played most, if not all the PL games. But Sokratis has missed few games now.

What is it with this generation of players & double barrel (i.e hyphenated) surnames?. Maitland-Niles, John-Jules, Smith-Rowe, Oxlaid-Chamberlain, Alexander-Anorld, Fonsu-Menssah etc.Traditionally, when you marry a woman, she ditches her surname & takes over yours. Feminism has corrupted women & the modern man is quite soft, timid & meek. Makes me wanna puke.

We don't marry them anyone. Breed and move on.

Look like Jenkinson will be playing as CB.
God bless us.

Think Eddie did very well last night.
Joe Willock was arguably the MotM.
Emile Smith-Rowe was very good in the first half, but faded out of it in the second.
Zech Medley was calm and composed at the back when he came on.
Bukayo Saka showed his pace and directness.
One frustration that doesn't go away - AMN playing at left back. Would be nice to see him given a go in CM against Carrier Bag.

Didn't let us down. Emery's coaching is working wonders on all our cast-outs. Shame we sold Walcott and Oxlade in the past two years. They would have been very useful in this team.

According to Reiss Nelson, Sako is the one to watch from the Arsenal Academy.
A big, big talent, apparently.

He is bound to with proper instruction where to tactically position on the pitch. What I also expected is more injuries under Klopp. Whilst his football is more exciting because of its intensity, that is bound to lead to more injuries as well. And Oxo had a serious injury history.

I think the entire class looks excellent. The last time I felt that way was with theo, diaby, cesc, merida etc. But our coaching and injuries meant they never really performed to those expectations. I think this group has a better chance because of the better corporate structure.
