Dave 'the save' De Gea

Positive signs that it seems he wants to stay with us only God knows why he does. He deserves so much better than this Circus we've currently got. Seems like he's just angling for more cash which he fully deserves.

The last few players who have come in and earned the highest wage at the club have all not lived up to it. Rooney was an awesome player for us but when he signed that 300k deal he was on the way down. Pogba was breifly our highest earner until Sanchez came in.

My point is that DDG not only deserves his rise but he also deserves to be our top earner. That's the level you need to be (irrespective of position) to earn that much with us. I think it would set a good precedent.

Alexis I think may have played his last game for us. I'm not even sure he's actually injured. Definitely reeks of a cover up this 'injury'.

Sanchez posted a picture of his injured leg on his Instagram yesterday, there's no fall out. He's actually injured ffs

............

So much for that long rest he had during the world cup.

To be honest we aren't at the point we need top level players for now.

That’s exactly where we are. The squad is sorely lacking that level of talent.

Guess I meant aging top players.

Depends on your definition of ageing and in what position. I wouldn’t say no to a top cb that is or, approaching, 30 given our woes at the back this season. Though our problems are more than just the cb’s.

We might not have such an issue at CB if our DM wasn't utterly $hite.

He'd be an idiot to sign another contract has he not learnt his lesson? Unless you're offering him a considerable amount more than what Sanchez is on he should just stay for another year if no club bids and will have his choice of clubs to pick from and move for free. Or sign for Utd if they turn things around and it looks positive etc but atm other than silly money it'd be a bad career choice to stay surely.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Depends really. Things looked bleak at Arsenal n Chelsea last season and they are both already feeling optimistic for the future. Amazing what a change in manager can do.

We've changed ours 3 times now and not moved forwards. Eventually we have to get it right.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Doesn't that just endorse what inbefore said, though?

Presuming DDG is actually motivated by collecting trophies, why sign on unless a new manager is brought in and turns things around?

He can sit it out, and when 2020 comes around, he'll have a clearer view of where the club is going.

Even if he did want to stay on at United, how much is his annual salary going to rise on a new contract, 5M? He could more than make that up via a signing on fee next year.

Different issue is if he simply doesn't want to budge regrdless of the money and of which club comes calling.

That’s the second time I have heard a united fan say that.

They guy at work said pretty much the same thing, he thinks there’s been a bust up behind the scenes.

The greatest thing about this comment would be o fin out that SE85 is actually 'the guy at work'.

Man U have triggered his contract extension as a ploy to avoid interest in him at a time when you could entirely understand him being open to offers. He’s the player that has literally saved your bacon for a few seasons now, and he knows it.

Struggling to correlate what’s happened with “positive signs he wants to stay with you”

I wonder if ddg is scared to join a new team? Look at the start of his itd career, error prone. For Spain he’s very error prone. Here he’s in his comfort zone, a very small part of me thinks he knows this and is a big part of the reason he’s stayed so far. He’s a hero here, and top class.
