When was the last time we battered Spurs like that? Apart from ten minutes before the HT whistle, where we allowed them to drag us down to their level, we were completely dominant.
We outworked and we outfought them yesterday, and they simply weren't ready for it. I've said it before about this Spurs team - Dembele, Kane and possibly Eriksen aside, they don't have many players who are actually great at playing the old football. They mainly got by us by putting in more work and fight, and by being snidey little priiiicks when it comes to diving and rotational fouling. It got seriously annoying when we kept playing the same way against them every single time.
Emery has changed all that. Now we're putting in more work, now we're fighting back, and it took them by surprise. Granted, it ruined our concentration afterwards, but I loved the melee after Dier's celebration. The lad clearly forgot who he was for a second there. I doubt we would have seen that under the old regime.
I'm now looking forward to our big games. Isn't that nice? Looking forward to big games? I'm not saying we will win them, i'm not even saying we will perform well - i just think we now have a manager who carefully considers the opposition and won't turn up hoping for a meek brand of football to suddenly come off. It'll be very interesting to see how we approach our game on Wednesday.
It's gonna be an interesting season - I'll stick by my prediction before the season started. I think we will just miss out on top 4. But we'll certainly be challenging the teams around us.

Spurs and Chelsea will do very well to finish above us.
Spurs in particular are dead. They can’t walk they are so tired. And no reinforcements coming in January either.

Emery is a perfect gentleman. The nastiness and grit in the squad most likely comes from Carcedo. He follows Unai everywhere and there were lots of reports about him being a nutcase at the beginning of the season.
Yet another brilliant signing.
