£18m

Ed Aarons @ed_aarons
It's estimated that Mark Hughes has been paid around £18m in compensation after being sacked by Manchester City, QPR, Stoke and Southampton. Not a bad return

I sometimes wonder why I put myself in 40k debt by going to university when you see this happening in football.

This is probably why we are being cheapskates with sacking off Mourinho until he can’t mathematically achieve top 4.

We'll save around £5m by waiting until we can't qualify for the CL before sacking Mourinho as opposed to getting rid now.

Is it worth a really long winter before doing the inevitable, for the sake of £5m?

Especially when we decided to give Fellaini a wage rise that’s probably worth around that. It’s such a depressing situation.

Who as a big name would come in and what manager would United fans want.

You would stand no chance of getting a managers job so stop your wondering.

Jardim. Give him a 5 month headstart on next season and no pressure. The league is as good as over.

Maybe Jardim as he's available, did well at Monaco with young players coming through. Played attacking football.

Zidane? Amazing, as he has 3 CL behind him, but I really think the jury is out on him as a top manager.

Larry White? Not managed for a couple of years though.

Eddie Howe? Seems to play football the right way, untested though at a big club.

Sir Giggsy? Only 6 months into his Wales job so wouldn't come. Would probably be closest to the Fergie ethos, but untested really as a manager. I'd have appointed him after LVG though.

Lucien Favre? Outside bet, got CL football with both Borussia Moenchegladbach and Nice but only 6 months into his new role at Dortmund.

Moyes? Available, had us in 7th but with a positive goal difference, so he would definitely be an improvement. Come back Davie, all is forgiven.

As if Punch has been paid nearly 20m for doing a sh** job. It really is abhorant, what has he done at all in the last 20 odd years?

The weird thing is, I still feel sorry for him

Especially now that the managerial merry-go-round is slowly becoming a thing of the past.

EPL clubs are now more likely to take a punt on a promising young "continental" manager, than reheat the same old soup.

Yes, brand new is better than second-hand or Hughesed.

Went over my head, that.

10/10.

Thing is, do you actually save anything by waiting until you can longer qualify for the CL?

Unless you're payoff is about 45m more then you're better off sacking him now and trying to qualify for the CL which would more than pay off financially (probably too late now though)
