Passion is back

Not only in the team but amongst fans. I for one got fed up with the lies and delusion sold and the show that was put on in previous seasons. It was about 2 seasons ago when I started to watch football less and less to the point even watching 2016 European championships became a chore, and not even bothering much with WC this summer other than big games.

Europea league debut last season was the first time I purposely went out of my way to avoid watching Arsenal. Call me spoilt, but simply watching us struggle against European farmers was not what I had in mind.

Emery’s reign started off quite badly with two losses albeit against two very good teams. But still bad losses nonetheless in black and white view. It took a while, defence was still as garbage as past few seasons. But this team started grinding out wins regardless. 18 unbeaten since the 2nd of those defeats in quite remarkable. The best bit? Performances are only getting stronger.

I don’t tend to look at unbeaten records with too much notice in first part of season but when majority have been victories, it’s hard not to get excited. The game against Liverpool was the first time in donkey years where we actually property dominated a class team start to finish.. A draw was slight reminiscent of when we would play well but end up getting sucker punched in the past even end up losing. But you knew this was not a one a off.

Then yesterday, a game where in pasts in all fairness we pretty much have always shown up especially at home. But nothing like that. I saw players sticking up for each other the type where Arsenal used to be known for back in the day. Not sure what caused the confrontation when Dier scored but it’s great to see subs coming in and really causing mayhem. It really did make it a proper derby that this league in whole hasn’t seen for a while. I think the added aggression from both sides playing style only made it better. Gendouzi always is getting involved. The lad loves getting stuck in whether on pitch or from subs giving it large to the opposition.

Guys like Bellerin who have often been accused of being fairies have become men. When one player gets a kick you can expect another Arsenal player not to far behind to back his mate up.

As a suffering fan, things like this make you love football again.

Na. Either Arsenal or none.

Good article.

Defence needs to be worked on but he's found a system (or even two) that suits a lot of players at once, improved some players and clearly does his homework on the opposition.

Only thing I disagree with is this;

'The game against Liverpool was the first time in donkey years where we actually property dominated a class team start to finish'.

I've seen it a few times from a few fans on here and it's an embellishment to say the least.

I can see you bringing someone in during the January too which would help. May well be in fir a cup too seeing as Arsenal are clearly hard to beat.

I watched that Liverpool game highlights. How Liverpool didn't score 5 or 6 easy goals was a mystery lol.

Arsenal are extremely clinical this season. Man Utd are extremely wasteful this season. Man Utd are like Arsenal when they lost 1-3 to Man Utd while Arsenal are like Man Utd when they won 1-3 lol.

Emery living on high conversion rates. The irony is this season every team seems to be lethal against us while there keepers make enough key saves to deny us the wins.

The irony is the fact it was the complete opposite for both clubs last season.

The irony is that the OP, a 'suffering fan', explains to us how he displays all the characteristics of what he didn't enjoy about supporting the team himself.
