Since we sold Depay we've signed two forwards, Lukaku and Sanchez. Both at present going down as two candidates for our worst signings in the last 20 years.
Imagine an interchanging front 3 of Depay, Martial and Rashford under the right coach. Could have been devastating. All 3 capable of playing LW/CF/RW, all quick, all skilful, creative and off the cuff. All decent finishers when they want to be as well.
Depay looks top class for Netherlands and has been in superb form for Lyon despite questions over attitude remaining.
70 starts and 19 apps from the bench, 33 goals, 35 assists to date in France.
Would you have kept Depay?

his attitude is still quite horrible at Lyon, he would have never made it.
Now Zaha was just Foolishness of all involved. I want Zaha back now. He should have loaned him out then brought him back.

I know we have a buy-back clause on Depay, do we have one on Zaha?

I always had a soft spot for him after he turned up at the Holland team hotel dressed as a Peruvian pan flute player.

Yes, Memphis was still extremely young, and raw. He always had the technical abilities. He would have flourished under a manager like SAF, someone to nurture him.
However, I believe a move to Lyon has done him a world of good. He did need to step up and progress, which he has done. He will go on to be a very good player, still only 24, his peak years will be very soon.

Technically it's not a buy-back clause as they are not legal in France. It is a 'gentleman's agreement', whatever that is.

We have a sell-on clause on Zaha. So if he were to be sold for 70m as was touted in the summer we'd get a tidy sum. Probably more than what we paid for him.

As if Fergie would have signed Depay.

so in theory if we sign him back we get quite a chunk off say if it was a 60mill fee and we had a clause to get 25% of the next transfer fee, 45mill! quids in

Depay genuinely looked out of his depth at PL level. All of his best games came against minnow opposition.
It might simply have been a step up too soon for him. He looks to have leaned down a little bit and for Holland plays through the middle more (I don't know where he plays for Lyon).
I'd not be against him being resigned as he appears to have improved as a player but I'd be looking at a couple of players from the PL first; Zaha and Anderson at West Ham and outside of the PL we really should be keeping tabs on Sancho.
