Although Spurs shipped four goals

at the weekend, that is not really the norm. Last eight Prem games, only eight goals conceded, which is something of a miracle really the way the defence has been completely disrupted with injuries, rotation, etc all season.

As I have always advocated, a settled defence is absolutely essential for all successful sides, so the question is when will Poch finally be able to put out a settled defence, and play them say for half a dozen games in a row? Hopefully once the Barcelona game is over in a week`s time, then just maybe, we will see a settled back four once and for all, in all games at least until the New Year, League Cup aside, which I am not overly bothered about anyway.

My defence for the next half a dozen, after this evening would be

Lloris
Aurier
Toby
Verts
Rose

The defence at the weekend, looked like a rabbit caught in headlights at times, mainly due to not having much game together. Absolutely essential then for Poch to pick a back four and stick with it. The time for rotation at the back has gone for a bit. Time for a bit of stability now. Who agrees?

I like Tripps in a 3-4-2-1

Gives him licence to go forward and he's not dependant on defending as much.

We haven't played a back 3 in ages - It used to work so well for us too..

I like that formation too.... Only downside is that its hard to get all of Kane, Dele, Eriksen & Son (our best attacking players) into that formation.... But agree it works best with the FBs we have now

****************Hugo************
****Toby*** Sanchez**Jan*******
****Trips***Dier**Winks****Rose***
************Dele***Eriksen*********
*****************Kane****************
----------------------------------------------------------------------
******************Gaza************
*******Dier***Toby***Foyth*******
***Trips***Sissoko**Winks***Rose***
**************Dele***Eriksen*********
*****************Kane****************

How about this for tonight? Gaza plays against his former club. Sissoko keeps his place. Son always a good option off the bench.

Both these Formations just highlight how important it is that we resign Toby & Eriksen. A new CM and a possible replacement for Rose (Sessignon) would be on my Christmas list but I'm not sure Santa Levy will be delivering this year

Anyone else heard the whispers that both Spurs & Chelsea are after Calum Wilson in Jan ?? Not sure we'll get that done given how crap Moratta is & what we'll likely pay... Good player though

Our defence has regressed badly since we had the best defence in the league. We are now a worse team for it, no longer do we have quality pacey attacking wing backs that push the opposition wide players back. Instead now we have slower, out of form, inconsistent and error prone full backs.

indeed.

We've lost our fear factor to some extent and teams ses weaknesses in our FB positions and try to exploit them.

Also, we have performed best defensively when we've had Dier and Dembele in midfield and the latter's appearances are becoming less frequent.

Its not one thing it's several and this is why this is such a tough league.
