Compensation for Mourinho if sacked

Something's is bothering me chaps and chapesses.

You sack a manager because you want a change in direction and improvement in results. The manager gets compensation for that, based upon the duration of his contract.

However, if as an employee he misbehaves, surely as per any other employment, he can be disciplined. I know that in my company, if I misbehave, tarnish the image of my employee, they can sack me as I'll be in breach of my contract.

The problems we have with Jose are far beyond the result. He has damaged the club's reputation. He has openly criticised his CEO. He has embarrassed the club in front of the press. He is also criticising players in a way, which in my opinion, goes beyond a means of getting more out of them. Arguably, he's guilty of workplace bullying.

So, can't we get rid without accepting that we have to pay him for this rest of his term?

I think Utd waiting to see where he finishes at the end of this season...I think there would be clause in his contract whereby they can pay relatively less in compensation if Utd finish outside Top 4 (I think Utd will finish outside Top 4 unless something goes horribly wrong with Spurs, Arsenal and Chelsea).

What I don't understand, how on the earth you guys gave him new improved contract knowing club wasn't/isn't going in right direction.

What i don't get about that is wouldn't they lose out on more money due to no CL anyway?

You can almost understand them waiting now as they will need runaway title form to make top four now, but an interim could have recovered a top 4 finish if Moyes was fired at Christmas.

And what genius gave him a new contract?

I suspect that there is a clause that lets us sack him for a reduced payoff if he does fail to get top 4. What I wonder is, at what point does the difference in his pay off become negligible? There is difference of £2m per league position. So if we finish 8th with Jose in charge instead of 5th with a new manager, that is £6m right there.

Not just that, (mentioned this the other day) but also we would only save about 3 months salary by waiting until we can't qualify for the CL to sack him.

Going off the belief we pay him a years salary to sack him in the event of no CL, it would be around April time, meaning he would only have 15 months on his contract anyway. So we save about £5m by not getting rid till then. Hardly seems worth it if we can find £5m for Monaco to play for a friendly which never happened.

I don’t think it’s just a case of money. From what I gather Woodward doesn’t believe that there’s anyone suitable to replace Mourinho who is currently available. Also makes him look bad if he sacks him only a few months after giving him a new contract.

saw that Mark Hughes has been paid £18m for all his sackings. he should retire and enjoy himself. he may even smile once in his life as he looks like the unhappiest man alive after Jose

Hughes has earned more being sacked than he did playing
