Defending

Don’t get me wrong, I’m happy with the three points but that defending was absolutely atrocious. Against a good side we would’ve conceded a hatful, it’s a miracle we didn’t concede until the 92nd minute.

Southampton hit the woodwork three times and had a whole host of other great chances, the second half performance was unacceptable, albeit we did look knackered again.

Rose was rusty, Trippier was poor and Foyth isn’t good enough to start for us yet. We really need Jan and Toby in the heart of the defence, Rose to finally get a run of games and the same for Aurier.

Anyway, glad to be back in third place. Three points against Leicester on Saturday and things are looking fairly positive again.

You can’t keep saying these are a mis mash of players when they have all been playing together all season.

A lot of these players are in double figures for league games played this season.

Even tripper-Foyth-Toby have played 3 times together in recent history.

It’s so clear why we are finishing games like this but if you can’t see it then that’s your problem

And how many times have the same team actually played together this season. I would wager a big fat zero. Nothing wrong with a bit of rotation. Foyth was forced, but Poch is just changing for the sake of it. No reason to not start Ali, Aurier or Sissoko.

Aurier had a complete mare V arsenal and Sissoko and dele had played a lot over the last few weeks.

In fact I’d wager a few weeks back Dier and winks would’ve been mosts first choice CMs.

Also didn’t all of our front 3 score so resting dele had no impact at all.

Aurier was no worse than any of the other defenders, and considerably better than both Verts and Foyth.

Dele has only just returned, what`s he had three or four games, that is no way lots of games, so no way should he be knackered. He is only 22 FFS. Players of that age should be able to play 10 games a week.

No way would Winks be my first choice CMs. He is simply not good enough. Tidy little player for a league cup match, but he isn`t ready to command a regular place. Sissoko has shown he has hit a bit of form, and the manager then leaves him out. Nonsense. But then I cannot second guess Poch`s teams these days, he picked Foyth over Toby at the weekend.

So much to pick fault in this but tbh I can’t be bothered with trying to reason with you anymore.

I am not against a bit of rotation, but if players cannot play say more than half a dozen games in a row, then they shouldn`t be playing.

Absolutely no way Aurier should have been dropped after just a couple of games, nor Sissoko, both look pretty fresh.

It was a good opportunity to get Trippier some game time and match fitness after his spell out. Aurier was tosh at Arsenal - so for me, that was a no brainer! I'd rather him play at home to Southampton, than Leicester or Barca away with 0 games played and not being fit!

Sissoko has played his socks off in recent games. He's featured in every game for us over the last 2 months. Again, another good opportunity to rest him with so many games coming up.

Poch chose the correct squad IMO. Only quarm I had is that Kane didn't come off when we were 3-0 up.

We conceded because we went to sleep. Ball straight over the top, not a defender in sight!
