Another Game

Another poor managerial display by Jose.

Firstly playing 5 at the back and essentially two holding midfielders. That literally leaves 3 upfront against the whole Arsenal defence. Why play like that at home against lets be fair not a great Arsenal team.

Then with 20 mins to go where both sides were pushing what happens. He decides to bring on Lukaku and Fellaini two absolute lumps and Pogba who looks like he can't be bothered. This completely killed our play and from then on it was all Arsenal and we sat back despite the fact it was a must win game.

Lets not pretend the fact that was decent last night. Anyone who thinks that was a good performance is pretty much accepting mediocrity. Bar the 2 goals I can't think of a good chance we created against a poor Arsenal defence. They weren't much better mind and the game deserved to be a draw.

Thought Matic was average which is better than he has been. Herrera and Rashford covered every blade of grass, Martial actually worked hard I though and from defence I thought Bailly bar a couple of silly moments he was very good and I thought Darmian did ok. Little mention to Rojo who I love his passion but my god I don't think I have seen a worse defender with the ball at his feet than him and I include Smalling in that. He is absolutely appalling, either a hoof to the opposition or straight out of play.

All in all it was all huff and puff and zero quality and nothing will change unless that toxic manager goes.

I had no real issue with the starting line-up and set up.

When we pressed and harried Arsenal, we looked good. When we reverted to type and sat off them, we looked vulnerable.

Where Mourinho didnget it wrong is by not having energy on the bench (Fred/Pereira). Our subs killed us and we played the game out with no real shape whatsoever.

Dalot was also getting badly overrun on the right and looked knackered (first PL start has has barely played; let’s give him time), but Mourinho didn’t rectify this.

The two major concerns for me are that a) we can’t maintain any kind of press for more than 10 minutes at a time and b) we’re not creating much in the way of chances.

Bringing on Lukaku and Fellaini was just stupid. The game was open and there was space all over the place. You need your mobile and pacey attacking players on the pitch if you want to win the game - which we should be looking to do at home. To bring two immobile forwards on in such a situation is just reducing your chances of getting 3 points. When he started telling Fellaini to get up top with 5 minutes to go I was just sat shaking my head. I appreciate that Fellaini can be a good option in the final stages of certain games, but don't think last night was one of those games.

Jose just seems to have this set way of playing/managing and doesn't seem able to adapt to the situation at hand. Very frustrating.

If you say so, he cost you two points though last night.

No he didn't. He was superb after that. Anyone who thknks De Gea isn't the best keeper in the league is an idiot or deluded

He was, but this season he has been pretty average.

De Gea has a howler with that goal

................

I think we can allow him that, don't you?

...............

Put it this way, he has kept our goal difference closer to zero than anyone else in the team.

.................

You could tell that he couldn't wait to bring them on. Rojo 's mistake was the excuse he was looking for.

If Matic makes that mistake (he does three or four of those every game) he stays on.

He can still be mocked for it as is every other keeper when they make one.

Curse of the keeper.

Yes, but not by his own fans, which is really my point.

If he becomes crap on a regular basis then that may change.

What a shocker by Ederson. He is poor when put under pressure. As good as DDG
