No new striker = no top four.

I'm really starting to believe that any realistic chance of us getting top four this season hinges on whether or not we bring in a good enough striker during this January transfer window.

Hopefully the club are hard at work behind scenes making this a reality. If not then it's no Champions League for another year I heavily suspect.

The competition for top four has never been tougher than it is this season. City, Liverpool, Arsenal and Spurs are all strong sides and unlike us they all have top class strikers to choose from who regularly score for them.

Until we rectify this issue then we're constantly going to be at a major disadvantage to our rivals. Simple as that.

Why don't you guys jut play Hazard up top in a false 9 role like Firminho does for Liverpool

Firmino a false No9...I had no idea

We'd be better off trying RLC up front than Hazard

suffice to say....if Sarri doesn't get us sorted out on Saturday we may well get totally embarrassed by City, if he even thinks of playing Morata I will lose my fackin rag...

It'll be Giroud this weekend as Morata played Wednesday.

I'm hoping it's neither and we play Hazard up top, think City would struggle with the interchanging and movement of a front 3 of Pedro, Hazard and Willian.

With Giroud they know he won't run past them and make runs in behind so they can press us right from the front.

14 goals in 15 appearances for Piatek this season. Not bad at all, although any media stories linking us to him have gone a bit cold. Callum Wilson is a good shout.

I know the stats, and I also know he made a freakishly good start to his Serie A career.

He hasn’t scored from open play in 2 months though. Just 3 pens, 2 of them in a cup game against a third division side.

People are talking about a reliable solution to your striker, and it doesn’t seem to me that a player who’s only had a few months and one purple patch outside the Polish league offers the kind of guarantees you’re looking for.

That’s why I wanted to establish with Wagk how much he’s seen him play. Seems no one here really has, and that all we have to go by is journo gossip around a bloke who I doubt many journos in the UK had even heard off before he hit his streak.

Fair enough re Piatek, he's a bit of an unknown element. What are people's thoughts on Callum Wilson then ? Is he attainable this window?

posted on 7/12/18

He's not the right level of player. We want to sign a player who starts out on Wilson's level (at worst) and has the potential to improve to at the very least Aubameyang level and hopefully even Kane/Aguero level. Wilson won't get better than he already is which isn't good enough. It would be similar to signing Demba Ba.

Why don't you think that Wilson can improve? Surely that's exactly what he's doing this season. Already has 8 PL goals which is as much as he's scored in a previous PL season.

Thanks for letting me back on the saloon . And with the age Wilson is and the level he's played his career at so far, I don't think he's ever gonna be a top level striker. Just seems like another Charlie Austin or Danny Ings to me. Would be a waste of money and time.
