Wigan Athletic 0 - 1 Derby County

1500
DW Stadium
Wigan

8 Dec 2018

Brexit rumbles on and as those who voted to leave crow 'you lost, get over it' are still waiting to see what they have won, we have the small matter a game against Wigan Athletic of former rugby league fame.

Jack Marriot should be back according to RD which should liven things up and apparently George Who and Joe Ledley could play a part.

We have a good record against Wigan at their place, winning 4 out of the last 5. Wigan are on a roll having not list in 3 but winning only one. They will rough, the will be tough but we are gonna have to stiffen our thingies and not be cowed by big bullies.

I will be there as the alternative was shopping in Manchester's Christmas markets.

Brexit is way more damaging (and divisive) than the Suez crisis.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes I totally agree - but in my lifetime I can identify Eden as one of the really bad ones and Cameron. I don't know how he gets away with what he has done. Alec Douglas Hume was poor but simply ineffective. Thatcher did more damage to British industry the Hitler's bombs. I think McMillan and Heath were OK. Attlee was great and Churchill, both when we needed such greatness.

But May and Cameron - like a large hole in the head.

Why do you assume we cannot improve our own goal difference to be better than theirs by the end of the season even if the points gap closes? We would still have to win games to even be level so we could easily have a much better GD.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Because if they are to gain 5 or 6 points on us they will certainly improve their goal difference. By definition! Assuming we will not beat somebody 15-0 and lose some games as well.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Of course they will. But so will we also 'by definition'. The point is that they are not guaranteed to improve it by more than we can.

If they win whatever they win 1-0 and we win whatever we win 2-0 we will for sure have the better GD by the end of the season even if we win less (which we need to do to be level on points).

And on top of that, if it's the mythical 5 or 6 points you mention that they need to catch us, then it means we have beaten them on Monday and the current -3 GD deficit could be a positive even by then if we win by 2 goals. And it will be no more than -1 in any case in that scenario.

How many times have promotion, play off places and relegation been settled by goal difference.? I can't be bothered to check back but I know it is very few and possibly never.

Ramdini, Heath was the second worst PM we have ever had, after the worst May. I would put Brown 3rd in the worst PM league.

Sorry I was too young to remember Eden.

Blair is one of the worst PMs he should be sent to court for war crimes

Yes you are right, but he could win elections and if you don't you are called Kinnock or Haig.

I think Cameron should be prosecuted for treason. He's done more damage than anyone in recent history, all in a vain attempt to silence critics in his own party.

Spot on scouse....
Thatcher had a lot of help with the unions in damaging British industry along with the EU who gave companies grants to move production out of the UK and into EU countries
