Not our best performance of the season but we were well worth the win. Gap opening up now between us and 3rd.

Peacock Farrell 6
Didn't have too much to deal with, still looks a bit dodgy of high crosses at times but coped well.

Shackleton 7
Better than Dallas at right back. Loads of energy, gets forward well. Misjudged a few things at the back but they didn't get much down his side.

Jansson 7
Poor sliding in on the goal but stepped up second half and brought the ball forward very well to give us more urgency in the spell for the goal

Phillips 6
His worst game in a while, caught out for their goal and his passing wasn't at his best. Still looks comfortable in this position.

Douglas 6
Some dodgy passes today and wasteful from set pieces.

Forshaw 7
Keep us ticking over well, can be overlooked how good he is turning in tight spaces and finding a pass out.

Klich 6
Thought he was off it today. Made the wrong choice a few times shooting and didn't get much space.

Alioski 5
Just not contributing much to the team at the moment but it was better first half.

Pablo 7
Great pass (I think he meant it) for Roofe's goal. Still our most important player and few good runs from him were ignored by others.

Saiz 6
When he plays, he's involved in goals. Inconsistent but has to start the next run of games.

Roofe 8
His movement is brilliant. Should have gone away with the matchball but won the game.

Halme 7
Did well against Matt Smith

Clarke NA

Thoughts?

Shackleton now has a run of games till whenever one of our right backs gets back fit, he should be looking to make sure the gaffer makes it hard to drop him.

I can’t really justify playing anyone other than Phillips at Centre back, it’s for the good of the team really, he has to be the one there even though he is a star elsewhere.

We need another Centre back though, it’s all well and good having a player that can play there, but in playing him there we don’t have him where he is best and that has a knock on effect for the whole team

More or less with what I’d go with.

I thought forshaw was garbage first half but excellent second

Phillips was dreadful

Didn’t think Douglas was bad, but you can see why wolves got shut, too slow and to be honest I’ve been disappointed, he ain’t the best left back in the league

We certainly haven’t had the offensive return we were hoping for from Douglas.

Douglas came with a team of the season behind him, he was well received as a it of a coup for us. However I think when you have Ivan Cavaliero in front of you, not much is needed from you as he does all the skinning and work for you.

He imo has appeared quite average. In the 2nd half of the season I hope to see him do what Taylor did and get forward delivering crosses and being a nuisance.

Shackleton imo showed him up yesterday.

list of positives from this season so far a lengthy one but the development of youngsters like Clarke, Shackleton and BPF is great to see.

Yeah - Shackleton really impressed me yesterday. Loved his eagerness in attack.

Shackleton's mentality summed up down at Swansea.Into the team at last minute.Could have played it safe, but had positive intent, skins their full back to set up Roofe. Exactly the qualities you'd want in a full back these days.

We are a much better side when Douglas is playing though.

"Shackleton better than Dallas at right-back"?
Shackleton did well, but steady on, it was just the one game, you know? Maybe wait until he's had a few games and faced some sterner tests than that. Bielsa moved Alioski over to the right to bolster that side: he hasn't felt the need to do that when Dallas has been RB. He played Phillips at Centre-back, rather than play Aapo Halme alongside Shackleton: he had no qualms about playing Halme alongside Dallas. He has rearranged the team to protect Shackleton in his first game at RB. It's a bit early to declare, right now, that Shackleton is an improvement on Dallas.
