Excellent result yesterday, and one

that I consider one of the best of the season. I was very apprehensive going into this game, injuries, constant rotation, not playing particularly well (Chelsea game aside), but the team played looked well, and looked very solid yesterday. The defence looked as good as it has all season, admittedly Leicester were not at their best, but so what. I wasn`t happy with the team selection prior to the match, but once again Poch has proved me wrong. Fair play to him, he knows how to get results.

So where are we now. Well 3rd in the Prem, just a few points of the top, 2nd in the CL group table, QF of the League Cup, and the FA Cup still to come. Excellent really for a club that has not spent a bean, no real ground to call home for another month or so. No complaints from me. Barca game midweek is a bit of a free hit now, proably won`t win, but you never know, worse way will still get some European football going into the New Year.

As for the Prem, just half a dozen points of the summit, with over half the season still to go. One of Spurs best ever starts. Eight away wins under our belt, and only just started December, Burnley, Bournemouth and Wolves all at home this side of the New Year, whilst Liverpool will be playing both United and Arsenal, let`s see if they can come through a tough period like Spurs have just done.

Looking forward only nine away games to play now, compared to 13 at home, should give Spurs a massive advantage. From now until the end of February of the biggies only United at home to play, and a very favourable fixture list that includes Burnley home and away, Bournemouth, Wolves, Watford, Newcastle and Leicester all at home, and only Everton, Cardiff and Fulham away. Should be an absolutely hatful of points from that set of fixtures.

All to play for, and whilst Spurs may suffer setbacks in the forthcoming cup ties, the Prem itself is still very much a realistic target to aim for.

I am feeling very chirpy this morning. COYS

Would be very surprised if Spurs have not caught Liverpool in another month with the way the fixtures have panned out. Liverpool have Arsenal, United and City, Spurs have the likes of Burnley, Bournemouth and Cardiff. Spurs have had their recent tough spell and come through it relatively unscathed, let`s see how Liverpool do.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Football isn’t played on paper and it’s not about the next month, it’s about being top in May

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Exactly, so you agree the title will not be decided until May. Good, right let`s all just move on now.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

No we don’t agree. You said yourself the other day we wouldn’t win it. I’ll post the link of the article if you wish?

Why don`t you post all the articles where I said Spurs could win it? The article said that I was concerned about all the injuries, etc so would be hard, but didn`t say it was impossible, and I had not given up completely. So why repost it. It is only what I am saying now.

There was absolutely nothing in the article that categorically 100 per cent stated that it was impossible for Spurs to win the title this season.

Why would I post something I don’t believe in?

Your problem is you need to better both us and City by 6 points in the rest of the season. When there are 2 teams above you it reduces the likelihood.

Also, while 6 points seems close if we assume current points totals continue at this rate you would end up more than 12 points behind which is obviously quite a lot. You need to up your game and hope us 2 drop ours. Just don't fancy it. Especially from City if I'm honest.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Liverpool could well drop points in their next three games, and Spurs could get maximum. Six points may sound a lot but it is very bridgeable. As I have said most of the season. The league does not really start to hot up until the New Year. 23 Games still to play for, that is 69 more points up for grabs.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
League starts in August pal, you really are deluded.

We beat u early days, does that count since the league hadn’t really started
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Spurs are the only top team Liverpool have beaten since August, include losses against any half decent side in the CL, and getting knocked out of the League Cup by Chelsea, then Liverpool aint beaten a lot this season. Liverpool aint last long in such a lofty position.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
And you’ve lost against most decent sides, hence that gap.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Spurs have beaten both Chelsea and Man United last season, two teams that have won quite a few trophies past few years. Not to be scoffed at.Have Liverpool beaten either this season? Spurs have a win rate of something like 40 per cent against the biggies this season. Liverpool are floating around the 20-25 per cent mark.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
60% loss rate as well
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Which is still better than Liverpool`s 80% rate of failure to beat the top sides.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
100% not getting beaten

i think Liverpool's lack of squad depth in key areas might catch them out over the length of the season.

For this reason i still have City as clear faves. LFC do tend to burn out a bit 2nd half of the season, under Klopp.

Spurs usually give Liverpool anything from about half a dozen points to 10 points lead every season, and always overall them.
