Europa League Not a Bad Thing This year

Tonight is a total "free hit" for Spurs. The odds of us winning there (sounds like Messi is gonna play) and PSV not mailing it are very slim. We all know we threw this group away with the games Vs Inter & PSV away..... Hopefully we have learned to be more professional !!!

We are a level below the standard of sides likely to win the CL..... So go for it tonight, see what happens and quite frankly dropping into the Europa is no bad thing. We have as much chance as anyone to win it. I suspect Poch puts ANY European Cup Competition above the FA or league cup and given that top 4 is by no means a cert, the Europa represents a great chance to get what we want..... CL for next year and a trophy to christen the new stadium !!!!

Could be a very interesting second half of the season with Spurs, Chelsea & Arsenal all battling it out for the Top 4 and the Europa. Id fancy our chances over either of those 2. Could be great way energize the new gaff (if we ever get in)... European nights at the Lane...... I feel Anderlecht all over again

Nothing to lose !!!!!

I really don’t think they give a s** about that mate. Barcelona will be confident of beating anyone in the next stage. People can twist it how they want in regards to Messi getting his goals or Barca wanting to knock us out etc etc, fact is, it’s a pointless game for them and they won’t be anywhere near as up for it, if it were a game that actually meant something. They will be resting key players and if we are truly up for it, we can go there and beat them.

Whether you give a shiiiiiit or not it’s still a valid point.

Well it’s not a valid point because I really don’t think that is on their mind at all. Why would Barca care about knocking us out ? They will be more interested in getting through the game injury free.

sounds like Messi is gonna play

----------

I mean, the barca coach must be an absolute mug. playing your star player in a completely meaningless game for them, having already qualified top. its actually ridiculous.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Hasn't he just had three weeks off after breaking his arm? I'm sure he'd have been rested if that wasn't the case. He's fresh enough though.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Doesn't matter how long he's had off, why on earth would you risk him in a meaningless game. Imagine the fans reaction if he got injured tonight.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

A CL game is never meaningless, particularly to Barcelona and the fans.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
What on earth are you on about?

The result cannot change their situation in the group therefore to them the game is meaningless, its not rocket science.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Wow.

So it's meaningless in terms of the position of the table. Does that make the game meaningless? Barca won't care about what happens?

I can't actually tell if you're being serious.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Let me simplify things for you.

Had Spurs won the group in 5 games I would not want our top boys risked in the 6th match which had no bearing on our final position.

For example if Kane played and twisted his ankle I would wonder why he started a meaningless game.

Does this work for you?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I understand your opinion. That is all it is though. Your opinion. In reality Barcelona and their fans demand results, especially in the Nou Camp and especially in the CL. That in itself shows that it really isn't meaningless, which is all I have ever said.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Its not an opinion though its a fact because regardless of tonights result they have won the group. How seriously they choose to take the match is up to them but it can't alter their last 16 situation.

Because Spurs would be a tougher prospect than Inter later in the competition. But whatever. Good luck later anyway.

Well if the fans are anything to go by, they don’t want any of their big stars playing. Intact, they are giving the manager stick for not putting many Barca B players in the squad. Have a look at the Barcelona forums and you will see they want a weak squad out tonight and couldn’t careless about the result as such.

I'm convinced that 2 of them (KLS and Pranks) will be watching us with an eye on the Pool score tonight
----------------------------------------------------------------------

KLS will be at Anfield I suspect, true fan.

Pranks will watch in a boozer near his Kent farmhouse

----------------------------------------------------------------------
How can u say those words to me
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I normally tell people you live in Croydon, thought that Kent sounded a bit more plush saan

I’ll be fuming if we don’t qualify. Facked up big time in the San Siro with quite frankly dreadful game management (conceding territory to drop deep and not retaining possession) has caused a 3/6 point swing which could well prove to be the decisive factor. Whether it’s scientific or psychological, playing a Thursday-Sunday schedule tends to negatively affect performances and results, and we can’t afford to have that as we’re in a battle to qualify for next seasons CL.

Would have rather finished 4th in our group so we could focus on domestic matters.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

In fairness, they got back into the game from an amazing goal out of nowhere. Then the momentum swang, as it does.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

They scored with about 5 mins left. We should have taken the sting out of the game by that point like quality teams do
