So VAR kicks in the Knockout Stages

Gives us a chance to prepare ourselves for VAR next season in the domestic game. Sadly it will only be used in this seasons Europa Final but I think the CL games will give clubs, fans and players an opportunity to understand it firstly and see how it will benefit you.

I am not bothered about how it will slow down the game, I think thats a side issue especially when you look back at some offside goals given this weekend which happened to be opening goals for both teams (Liverpool & Spurs incorrectly given and against Arsenal incorrectly dismissed)

I think all incidents were crucial and hence for me VAR simply has to be used especially for something as simple as offsides. There were some crucial decisions missed in last seasons CL knockout games but how they manage subjective issues like the Salah and Ramos incident will be interesting.

I think overall VAR will benefit teams with technical players like City and the gap between the top teams and the lesser teams in the PL could widen.

Don’t mention the onside goal we scored that was ruled out at the Emirates, game winning goal as well
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That goal was not clear cut onside.Mane moves towards the ball in the first phase.I believe if the ref had looked at that he would still have ruled out Mane's goal as in his opinion Mane makes a slight move towards the ball.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It would have been given.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Ok Mr ref.

All I know is that there will be a lot of stoppage time as it takes ages for them to make a decision on some calls
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Not the case in the world cup or in the league's (Bundesliga- Serie A etc) that already use it.

It will be a facker for people who bet and want to cash out an accy, though.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Why?

I also think VAR will be great for gamblers by the way
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Why? Because it will suspend it while they refer to VAR, so over s few games you could have little opportunity to cash out.

How was it a game winning goal? Was 0-0, and you still went 2 up and facked it up.

Although that correct decision does highlight an issue with VAR. Awful refs will still be awful when watching a TV screen.

He was onside, end of.

I dont think it's a "end of" kind of decision, the rule isn't clear and it's been debated to death

However with VAR at least everyone would know that the ref had an adequate amount of time to review the decision and make an informed decision rather than having to think about it and speak to his assistant retrospectively

Not to mention the ref missing an Arsenal pen when Allison completely flattening Mkhi before any of this happened.
