Pereira

Wanted get people's view on this young lad.

Have to say I wasn't impressed with him v Valencia and reading the MEN they are of the opinion Jose is justified in him not getting game time bases on his performance

Now I appreciate he doesn't get game time and expected him to be off the pace but he was very lethargic I thought and so do the MEN

Thoughts?

I’m still not entirely sure what Fred is though. I think next to Pereira in that set up you need as close to a Kante as possible doing all the dirty work. Whereas I feel maybe Fred prefers to play further forward and that would maybe explain why Jose he said he won’t getting much game time until we can sort out the defensive side of our game.

I don't understand the whole Fred thing. For me he looks like a classic box to box CM that can do a bit of both. Which is why I would put him slightly ahead of Pereira, doing the ratting and putting on the pressure further up, with Pereira sat deeper, making interceptions and hopefully dictating the game from there. With that pairing I think you have had a two players who are happy to either attack or sit - same with Herrera in there.

But if Jose does see him playing further forwards, why not play him there whilst Pogba is in such poor form?

Yeah no problem with at least seeing it although it will need a run of games to be given a fair assessment.

But it’s why I feel that sacking Jose now would help us in that it gives the interim manager a clean slate to start again and try and get the players happy and perfoming again without the need of top 4 while we look for a long term replacement. The longer we keep Jose, nothing is going to get sorted or likely to help the next manager.

Yep, I'd get shut now and give the new guy time to assess the squad. Hopefully it would help us tie a few of the players into new contracts too.

Agreed. Waiting until top 4 is mathematically off and out of the CL, therefore no chance of attaining it for next season is a mistake.

Yes, whatever we might save on his pay-off is surely outweighed by loss of income through prize money, value of the business, value of our players falling etc.

Harsh to judge players who are all thrown together once in a blue moon and not actually integrated with the starting 11

Couldn't agree more. Jose still can't figure out what his starting 11 is, and it's almost 2019! That's amateurish at best, and this chap gets paid to throw some lot together each week? No wonder players are unsettled and have no cohesion. It all comes down to bad coaching.

Andreas and Fred were dissapointing to say the least,, which is regretfull , as we really need them to step up and warrant their places in the starting 11 ahead of Fellaini and Matic.

They didnt look match fit imo.

I wouldn't even put too much emphasis on Pereira's performance against Valencia to begin with. Dude hasn't played in how many months now?

---------------------Herrera------------------------
--------------Fred----------Andreas--------------
-Lingard----------Rashford----------Martial-

Doesn't seem so ridiculous as this is a unit of capable interchangable pieces. Never will happen in Mourinho's world because no one besides Rashford and Martial meets that height requirement.

He was poor against Valencia, most were. Hard to judge him in this team. In Spain he didn’t look anything special. A deeper role could suit his skill set, but I remain to be convinced he’ll make it. Will probably end up at a midtable side somewhere (not the one he’s currently at ).
