If we'd not bought Pogba

There's a lot said about how Pogba is being shackled by Mourinho and that were he at any other club, he'd shine. Now....don't get me wrong, I'm NOT a Mourinho fan and would have him marched out of the club tomorrow, if I could but I actually don't agree that Mourinho is the sole reason for Pogba being so bad.

I think Pogba is a very overrated player. He did well at a dominant Juventus team in a league where he's afforded a lot of time on the ball. I think his World Cup display has been vastly overstated. Sure, he did well in the semi and final, when France were already on top but when they were underperforming in the early rounds (e.g. against Australia) where was he? Is he a player who makes a difference turning a game on its head? Yes - he scored a couple of goals vs City last year, when we were 2-0 down but was he taking the game by storm? I actually don't think so.

In fact, I think fans are so desperate to dream that he truly is a 90m player that we are guilty of overplaying the few positives too often.

So far:
- Season 1 - Underwhelmed - excused by not having a full preseason.
- Season 2 - A few 'bit better' performances plus some stupid stuff (e.g. red card vs Arsenal)
- Season 3 - utterly woeful. Slow, giving the ball away constantly, making Fellaini look like Messi.

In terms of his natural ability. Yes - he has skill and can do clever things on the ball. He is also pretty good at long passes (but no better than Carrick or Rooney were at this). But his decision making is dreadful. How many times has he just done the wrong thing? And his attitude just sucks: Again, how often do we seem him stroll back when the team is desperate to get bodies back, when we've lost the ball. When he came on for the last 15 vs Arsenal, when both sets of players had been rushing around frantically for 75 minutes, he did absolutely nothing.

I honestly don't think he'd do it in the premier league under any manager. I can't see it working. Fergie may not have actively wanted him to go but he was in no hurry to pick him, even when resources were low. Maybe it's because he felt he was too young/immature. Maybe he still is/always will be?

I actually think that his signing is one of the biggest causes of the bad job Jose has done. He's tried to fit him in and - in so doing - has stopped the team making the most out of its other resources. I'd much sooner see Jesse on the team sheet than Pogba.

waiting for pogba to come good is getting a bit like waiting for utd as a whole to come good after fergie

Rd I won't be sad to see either go at the moment. But I'd prefer Jose gone before anyone else.

Yeah, agreed. Should be 1st priority to get rid of Jose..

The reality is that every other club bar Chelsea and City has to make an £89 million purchase work. They can’t just bench him.

This turnover of big money signings like Di Maria, Martial, Pogba and Sanchez is becoming silly.

Turning you into a take away.
You used to be Michelin star.

Personally I think he’d look class in any other team in the top 6.

Put KDB or David Silva in this team and they’d struggle.

He wouldn't play at Man City for starters. He'd struggle at Liverpool or Tottenham with their play styles. Probably even Arsenal. He may have been decent at Chelsea or even Arsenal under Wenger but that's it.

Would he struggle in the France side?

I believe that he has the technical and physical attributes to be the best CM in the world.
----------------
I see this posted a lot but the amount of times i've seen him now just lose control of the football without a tackle on him seems to contradict that quite a bit, might rub people up the wrong way but would he be so lauded over this so called potential if he was a 6ft plus tall white footballer who can't seem to control a ball and gets dispossessed so easily?
--------------

The reason he loses the ball though is down to his concentration levels and decision making, which I'd count as the mental side of his game.

I don’t think I’ve seen a player play the ball out of play so often as I’ve seen pogba do it. Does that really point to great technique?
