January Window

Gutted to go out last night and it highlighted the quality we lack at that level and even domestically in some games. The window is just around the corner, where do we need to strengthen?

It appears Ejaria is homesick if reports are correct, he's had good games and bad. Though on reflection overall i'm more than happy for him to head back especially if Davis is arriving in his place, he's undoubtedly levels above.

Sadiq is done and Solanke heavily linked with coming up in his place. I've watched him at Liverpool and never been sold on him but for the England u21s he's looked very capable. I'd be happy enough to take him for 6 months and find out what he can produce for us.

After those potential deals is there any room for maneuver elsewhere in the squad?

Worrall, another who has had decent games but looks the worst of the 4 CB's available and Forest are struggling for players at the back so a decent possibility of him returning. Rumours of possibly going back in for Cooper of Millwall are surely over with him signing a new deal today.

Kent is going to be out for a while leaving us with 3 fit wingers in Candeias, Grezda and Middleton. Should we be looking to being another one in?

You're right Lex The only players to be got from England are either young or old players. Even at that their wages are still ridiculous and you're only liable to get younger players on loan or older players out of contract.

Realistically it's no surprise that the loan signings aren't working out.

Dave King stated a few weeks ago that only Sadiq has really failed as a signing, just on the comments of this article alone that's miles off.

Rangers appear to need 4 or 5 players again but will they do it in January or wait until the summer?

Exactly rats, Rangers would be better looking in-house to their youngsters, can't tell me there isn't a striker for instance that could have had Sadiq's place in the first team squad, and no way he would have contributed less.

100% correct.

Sadiq's arrival is probably the biggest head scratcher to come out of the Rangers team in a long time.

Gerrard must have went on recommendations and never watched him cos he's unbelievably bad.

I've read that Rangers youths are doing really well and have a very promising bunch coming through. Mebude is meant to be going really well, is lightning quick and has scored loads of goals.

Perhaps Gerrard just thinks they're not quite ready psychologically for the first team. The demands put on the likes of Coulibaly, Ejaria, Kent and Middleton have been pretty hefty, plus the supporters get on their back when they don't have a good game.

Unfortunately budget constraints mean that there are very few options available.

Rangers have just got to be sharp if and when a player comes available. I never expect anything to happen in January and I doubt any major additions will come in.

Good man HB, some wean somewhere in Scotland will have a present he/she wouldn't have had on Christmas morning because some unknown big Norwegian scored in Leipzig and that in turn triggered a ja606 bet, what a World

Yes-I saw that. Very funny-especially after all your predictions!

Well done on paying up. If you could just send confirmation of it to admin to verify...

Aye gutted to go out.

As for what we need, it’s pretty obvious that our midfield is pretty poor, plus all the players we have are a bit samey. That’s the area we need to look at, and to be honest I don’t think the standard of player we need is going to be available in January at a price we can afford. Although no doubt it’ll be a window of Davis rumours.

Even if we do bring him in, he won’t be enough to provide that missing spark from our play, he was never that kind of player. I wouldn’t mind the Dowell rumours to be true mind, he looks a good player and exactly what we need, even if we will need to replace him come June.

Other positions need focussing on too, a striker would be nice as we don’t have anyone good enough to lead the line if Morelos gets injured/suspended/sold. Not sold on solanke one bit though.

Wingers no doubt a month of chasing a diddy like Jordan Jones or some mediocre youth from the Liverpool youths.

Posted this on the wrong article

Just reading the BBC gossip column and it says Gerrard wants to sign more players.

It’s the gossip column so no chance of being true. He signed 15 players in the summer on top of the squad he has and supposedly only Sadiq is a flop

I imagine we’ll get a couple players in on loan if anything, can’t see there being any real transfer fee funds. But agree with folk saying we should look at youth if we’re going to replace Sadiq. Andy Dallas is scoring for the u20s and Zak Rudden comes back in Jan I’m sure and he’s bagged goals in the Championship.

But will be just as interesting to see if anyone leaves. Pena will be back, and he did get a few goals for us so may be worth giving a chance.

Think we have to be giving youth a chance,we have some good young players and can’t afford signing a new team every year. We’ve been lacking in cm so would like to see Stephen Kelly given a chance. Middleton has been brilliant and now with another winger out why not give Atakayi a proper chance too.
