Hypothetically, if you had a choice of winning the Europa Cup or coming out of the CL in the last 16, QF or SF stage, which one would you prefer?
Win Europa or out at QF stage of CL?

I should have said this season.

Problem with being on the Ropey league is that it means absolutely fack all unless you win it.
Going far in the CL is better unless you're winning it.

You get a decent chunk of cash though. Not CL standard, but still worth your while.

Liverpool fans weren’t saying that when they lost in the final.

How do you know?

From reading. You can’t be telling me you’ve never read Liverpool fans defending Klopp’s failure of finishing 8th in his first season by pointing to the success of losing two finals?

No, never. That's to add to the point most times.
Only real defence I've seen is him joining mid season and inheriting a poor team rock bottom on confidence.
But does it mean anything that we got to the final? In the long run it doesn't, and that was the point.
It wasn't a point scoring Liverpool vs you match
United and Chelsea won it, and that definitely means something.

Convenient you didn’t see it.
I don’t agree it’s pointless anyway, said as such when we fell into it in 2012. It depends on where the team is coming from as well. There’s a lot to be gained from a team with a good run in the Europ, even if they end up losing it.
Look at Liverpool, for example. I bet they took a lot from that Europa run. Beating teams over two legs, especially if you’ve beaten some big names/good teams, as you did, gives players a bit of belief and know how when it comes to getting the job done.
This is where Spurs have been missing a trick with the Europa. They’ve won one ko tie under Poch, better runs in the Europa could have helped them when it came to playing Juve.

Ok, sure I agree here, smaller teams will see it as a huge tournament but for the top teams it means nothing if you don't win it, compounded by the fact that it often complicates getting into the top 4.
Worst of all is you don't win it and miss out on top 4 still, like Liverpool.
In such a scenario, every team that entered the CL group stages has made more money and experienced football of a higher level, advertising itself to better players etc. Only winning it can be better than that IMO.

Don't like the Euromick...we won it in 13 due to being not good enough to progress through to the CL knockout...a path i heartily disagree with, but there it is.
If we win it this time round, it will be fair & square, from the outset, but it's only a route to the proper competition for my money
