Clean slate for the players

It's not hard to empathise with what you've had to put up with as fans, and understandable that there might be a certain degree of anger with some of the players still bubbling under the relief at Mourinho's sacking. Even though Mourinho was far more successful with us, it was still a huge chore to put up with his bottomless supply of sourness and bile.

So anyway, the media are now having a field day with the supposed beef between certian/some/most of the players and Mourinho and their reactions now he's gone.

I don't think any of it merits much attention beyond morbid curiosity, and I doubt Solskjaer faces too much of a task to get the squad onside. I don't think he needs to even 'throw the shackles off' in the broadest sense. The players will be raring to go and happy to play for basically anyone willing to give them even an inch or two more freedom to express their football.

Considering just how much of a provenly toxic influence Mourinho is, I would just give the entire squad a clean slate and vote of confidence. As someone said on another thread, there must be something to them when they attracted United's attention to begin with.

Time for them to each prove they're worth their salt. Give them the chance.

Why would he go back to Real though?

Fair comments IOAG.

IMO Ole should come in and say something along the lines of:

"Everything that went on before is now in the past and forgotten."

"But:"

"We now leave the ego's at the door. No one is bigger than the club. That badge on your shirt and the fans that pay for it is where your loyalties lie, not yourself or twatbook ."

"All I want to see is 100%t effort and when you come off that field after 90 minutes you should have nothing more left to give."
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's pretty likely he'll say something right along those lines.

That said, Mourinho will have said exactly the same thing to them when he arrived, and certainly made a point of repeating most of it ad nauseum in interviews throughout his tenure.

And I’m sure LVG would have said something similar too when he joined. I hope Ole coming in brings some positivity to the players and the club as a whole but the truth is we’ve probably all said similar things when previous managers have come in. This is why I think it’s naive to think things can change so easily or quickly.

The fickle nature of football means just a couple bad results can result in huge negativity throughout the media which often translates to fans too. Even though we all seem to be saying Ole shouldn’t have too much expectation on his shoulders, rivals and the media will still want him to fail. I do feel that some fans think Jose going will instantly see am improvement in our football with Pogba becoming the a world class player he rarely shows and players like Matic, Fellaini and Lukaku being banished from the first team for good. This isn’t going to happen, especially not in the first few weeks or months.

We all need to be patient.

And you are oblivious. Does he not need to step up?

Why "especially Pogba" though other than a very strange obsession?

I hope various player step up in a better formation... But i'm not obsessed with any single player and think it's ludicrous to heap pressure on one player when the whole team has been subjected to dreadful practises for the last 2 and a half years.

Succinctly put

The United JA606 contingent isn't exactly world-renowned when it comes to displaying patience though, is it?

................

If it doesn't happen nothing much is going to change.

Matic and Fellaini are not all of a sudden going to become decent midfield players.

Because he’s been awful, and has the highest potential of any outfield player. We need him to start proving his worth. Prove to us he’s as good as he thinks he is. So far he’s been very inconsistent and pretty forgettable for the most part. All players need to step up, but him more than most of them.
