How the fck can someone with a drone shutdown one of the busiest airports in the country?
I can just imagine Sussex's finest boys in blue squinting through their RayBans and scratching their bo||ocks not having a clue what to do.
What a farce, just shoot the fcking thing down FFS.

Terror related?
Seems a big furore over nothing really. You would have thought the drone was gone and it was safe to land again but this seems to be going on....

It's a last desperate attempt by the remain campaign to see that no one leaves the country

Entirely possible, massive inconvenience and might be able to get away with it

Police on the radio earlier said this was an intentional, "targeted attack". As they got close to the drone, it disappeared only to reappear somewhere else. It's not just some nobhead playing with his xmas pressy early.

Whose to know these drones aren't laced with explosives and stuff. Should be very strict punishment for people caught using them near airports.

Doesn't really need explosives, just needs to be in the way of the inny bit of a jet engine.

How they are not licensed is beyond me given the catastrophic consequences of a rougue user.

There is one for commercial use I think, and I think there is some sort of voluntary thing - I suspect tightening up of licensing will be the eventual outcome of all this rather than weare's more draconian suggestions.
Although that won't stop an event like what we're seeing here - if someone actively wants to cause grief they can probably do that without the need of a license, and losing their license won't be high on their list of concerns.
