You beat Brugge n Grasshoppers in those days to win a final.

Brugge and Grasshopper were the best teams at that time. They would have whooped United's rse and that's why it wasn't United that made it to those finals.

He's wrong anyway - we didn't beat Grasshoppers in the 77 final it was Borussia Mönchengladbach

National champions in their own leagues. And where were MU in those days? 6th & 10th

On the one hand you get people saying the CL is a joke because it features the 2nd,3rd and 4th best teams of each league. Then on the other you have people saying yeah but it’s only Grasshoppers et al, who were champions of their national league at the time.

20 years from now Milan will be sheet and you'll mention Istanbul and be told "it was only Milan".
