Someone of an elderly persuasion said today playing Mata and Matic today would be like us playing with 10 men

And as said above, people have said on the thread that Mata is finished


Goes to show how underrated Mata is.

i dont think he's finished he just cant do the high press in the same way rashford, lingard and martial do.

if pogba is gonna be in the number 10 position then i dont see a place for mata in the first XI.

hes a great option to have but id be worried if he was starting week in week out in the front 3

Pogba isn't going to be in the number ten position.

He was for all of five minutes today before he was switched with Lingard, then dropped to inside left again.

You turn everything into a post about yourself don't you. You can't just say they played well and leave it at that.

You won't see this though. You filtered me for pointing out your hypocrisies like a complete wimp

These kind of games are the ones were Mata can exert his influence... High tempo games where we aren't in complete control of the game (or on the back foot) he's a liability.

Just need to know when to use him.

He would not be in my starting line up against Spurs or teams of that ilk.

The comment of not playing Mata and Matic in the same side has merit... under those circumstances...

Mata is fantastic when players like, Rashford, pogba, Lingard ar buzzing around him and he can just play them in.

I’d still rather have Martial in the side. Quicker to press.

Completely different kinds of player and both very useful horses for courses.

Mata, for me, is probably more useful in games like today's, and Martial in more open, competitive fixtures.
