and what have we done?
Despite all the hype, and some decent performances, what is our half time report?
We are 5th in the league, 13 points off the top, our defence is still suspect, and it is still 50-50 as to whether or not Ozil can be bothered to turn up.
Pool are scoring well and have a strong defence. Despite recent results, City have such a strong pool of players, which will pay dividends in the 2nd half of the season - and to top it all - Spurs are playing their best footie in decades and scoring for fun.
We are also set to become 2nd in the battle with Chelsea for 4th place, since they will surely address the weaknesses in their squad. And how long before manu close the gap on us?
We have shown improvement in some areas - we no longer seem to be the pushovers we were under Wenger, when teams want to play rough, but the end result is the same - we struggle to get wins against very mediocre teams, and I don't see us getting anywhere near CL football in the next 3 years
And so this is Christmas....

No Arsenal team since the history of time has been successful having three first team defenders out.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
When Mustafi and Holding are counted as 1st team defenders, we are already struggling, although Holding is a WIP. Monreal and Kos are there, and we have experienced players to fill in. And Guendouzi isone of the biggest success stories in the squad this season for me

Guendouzi is young and keen and full of potential. But his job today was to take the ball off the defence and feed it into Ozil, Laca or Aubs. A ten yard ball and he couldn’t find it.

Best football in decades from Spurs?
No mate - season before last was the best football in decades. We started this season gash, yet ground out results- winning badly. But since our win against Chelsea yes we’ve found some form (bar the blip against you in the league, but then it was a derby)

the blip was mostly due to spurs being knackered after their fight to stay in the CL, while we had a week to prepare. We saw a true reflection of tthe relative strengths of the 2 teams in cup game, I believe

Emery inherited a poor squad and he is still learning what/who does and doesn't work. He has vastly improved certain players, squad attitude and fans morale. It is very early days - how long has Klopp taken to finally look like the real deal? How long have Man U been trying to replace Fergie? Another year to 18 months is needed before we can seriously judge Emery, and even then we should remain patient. This is a total reboot after 20+ years of a one man operation. My thoughts are, so far,so good!

He needs and deserves time. The squad was/is an absolute state.
His signings so far have been very mixed if they are his signings? Only one who looks like a potential big waste of money is Leno but things could definitely still work out with him
I didn't expect much progress this season but I think there has been some.

Your points total is actually very good, but there are simply a few freaky ones.
I think you should have always looked at this season as one of transition, with anything above 6th seen as a bonus - a new coach, a new style and the need to assess his squad during a season to determine what needs to be kept, and what needs to be jettisoned.
As much as it pains me to say it, I think Arsenal will be very strong next season. No doubt he will buy himself a few defenders and lose the highly paid wasteman who is the poster boy for the modern Arsenal

Poorest squad in top 6. Luckily for you Jose stayed in the job 2 months too long or you'd now be 6th.

I really fancy United for 4th.
The optimist in me is looking forward to a ritle race this season.
The pessimist is hoping United make Arsenal.and Chelsea look down, and drop points due to the differing psychology, rather than chasing us down

I saw the Brighton game last night, wasn't impressed at all. One or 2 obviously top players but a lot of dross in there too.
