Kelechi Iheanacho

What would you do with him? It’s a tough one, he’s been at the club for well over a year now and came on the back of a huge transfer fee from Man City. There’s clearly a very good finisher there - his time at City shows that as well as his brief highlights at Leicester.

The problem as I see it is that Iheanacho is an out and out no.9. And not the kind of play on the shoulder no.9 either - he’s a predator in the box really, with chances that need to be created for him.

What he’s not is someone who will run in behind, hold up the ball or even control it particularly well (yeah I know...) and I think there’s a touch of Ahmed Musa and Andre Kramaric about this one. What I mean by that is that there’s a player there somewhere (even in Musa) but I don’t think it’s going to be realised at Leicester where we play with one up front

What do you guys think? Should we cut our losses?

P.S this isn’t a moaning article or an attempt to have a go at Puel or the club or Rudkin or any other hidden agenda. It’s just an attempt to have a debate

Never got the fuss over Iheanacho. He’s a poor footballer that is good at scoring tap ins, but needs it laid on a plate for him to do so which is why scored more for City than he has for Leicester and Nigeria combined.

Never seen him score a tap in. He lacks a first touch sometimes but has some lovely delicate touches around the box and is a classy finisher.

But right now, his confidence looks so shot he can’t even pass to a team mate!

Most of his goals for City were. Not seen him that much for Leicester but looks pretty poor when I have. I couldn’t believe you spent what you did on him. Unless you are creating loads of chances for him he’s a pretty pointless player.

His stock is low too so will be hard to recoup much of what you paid.

Is he an improvement on Musa?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think Musa was more of a wide forward so wouldn’t say a direct comparison. I think Musa may actually have been more suited to a 4-2-3-1 as a wide man.

He played down the middle against Barc?

Yep and he looked good on counter

We tried to play Musa as a wide striker. That didn’t quite work out for him!!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No we played him as an inverted winger and he was completely unsure what he was doing. He’s an outside forward in a 433 as an ideal position.

I don't see he's got good enough control to be a top striker, he also doesn't fit in our normal 4-2-3-1 system.

He's only 21 though so worth keeping, also his confidence is shot, so he may get better given the chance.

Only if you’re feeding him with cut backs

A wide striker/inverted winger aren’t that dissimilar to me. Maybe the inverted bit hurt him.

I'm not sure there is such a thing as an inverted winger, its just a fancy name for a wide attacking player who mainly cuts in onto his stronger foot. Its not difficult?

If your game is to go wide (or cut inside) and you’re asked to do the opposite then it’s a whole new set of skills to develop then add a new league on top. Stick Salah playing wide left and see if his scoring stays the same? He’s a left footer playing on the right putting full backs on their weaker foot. Musa played better on the shoulder and on his stronger foot. Interesting in Gray is a bit of an anomaly- seems to be fancied to cut inside but always think he looks better playing as a conventional winger.

Think so, in the World Cup he played further forward and on his left foot - seemed to help. Similar role when he played at home against palace and looked half decent.
