Sixth and no Cups

New manager with new ideas and only £50 million spent.
An injury crisis of epic proportions.
Up against competitors who are well set with their managers, their money and their projects.

The reason why the 21 game unbeaten run felt so good was because it was so against the odds.
The smart money is on us finishing sixth and not reaching the finals of any cups.

From a mental health perspective - accepting this target and then hopefully getting a surprise is the best attitude to take.

To be reviewed in two years time.

Walcott was badly disliked by the majority of the fans even though he was probably the second most productive player in the squad after Sanchez.

Can fans really say Iwobi and Welbeck are better options than Ox and Walcott?

Teams are picked by fans votes. Both Giroud and Walcott were down the pecking order. What's the point in keeping them to sit in the stands when we could get money for them and, more importantly, release their wages?

The point is though Walcott and Giroud were better options compared to Welbeck and Iwobi, so what was the point in getting rid of players that generally get you double figures in goals every season, yes I know selling Giroud was part of the deal to getting Aubameyang. We decided to keep 1 player who barely scores and creates anything (Iwobi) and another who is far too injury prone and very inconsistent (Welbeck)
Of course if we replaced Walcott we wouldn't be having this discussion but we haven't, we are badly crying out for wingers.
I can remember Summer 2017 I looked at our attack and we had Sanchez, Giroud, Lacazette, Walcott, Ox, Welbeck. I thought wow if we keep all these players that is some attack. Unfortunately we now only have 2 of them left, one who is injury prone, then we upgraded on Giroud, but failed to replace Walcott, Ox or Sancez, No Mkhi is not a replacement for Sanchez.

Dj will just play the Devil advocate for the sake of it. Surprised so many people get so engaged in absolutely pointless debates with him

Sanchez and Ox wanted to leave yes but Walcott would have stayed if he was starting games regularly, Giroud was also happy at Arsenal but he was always on the bench too and needed to play regularly with the world cup approaching. We should have replaced the likes of Sanchez, Walcott and Ox.

Not according to the manager. Hence why Walcott and Giroud went down the pecking order.
You cannot just keep players the manager has lost faith in just because Arsenal_49 rates them.

I’m talking about Giroud and Walcott.

What exactly did he say that was wrong?

I agree with him here. Whatever fans like you or me think, Giroud and Walcott were both down the pecking order, and both left for game time.

The only reason the debates are pointless is because either you don't believe what you are saying in the first place or you soon realise you are wrong
