Had a look at the past 10 seasons finishing league tables.

1st 2nd 6th
2008/09 90 83 74
2009/10 102 91 70
2010/11 88 84 75
2011/12 89 88 75
2012/13 87 79 68
2013/14 102 93 72
2014/15 90 89 78
2015/16 93 89 74
2016/17 94 93 80
2017/18 99 90 75

Average points of Champions = 93.4
Average points of Runners Up =87.9
Average points of 6th place = 74.1

Leeds United currently
Played 24 points 51
To get 6th place in an average season we need 23 points from 22 games
To get 2nd place in an average season we need 37 points from 22 games
To get 1st place in an average season we need 43 points in 22 games

Long way to go (word of warning)
---------------------
Bristol City at the same stage of the 2017/18 season were sat in 2nd place with 47 points and a +15 goal difference.

Fulham were sat in 11th on 35 points and a goal difference of +2

Bristol City finished 11th with only 67 points in total

Fulham finished 3rd with 88 points and a goal difference of +33

Theses are outliers and not the normal with the vast majority staying within 1-5 places but Millwall also shifted from 16th into 8th

Busting the myth
-----------------------
Leeds are falling apart again. Where did this come from?
This is the number of weeks Leeds spent time in the top 2 or top 6 in the seasons we have been back in the championship

2010/11 top2 - once / top 6 - twenty six
2011/12 top2 - none / top 6 - nine
2012/13 top2 - none / top 6 - once
2013/14 top2 - none / top 6 - seven
2014/15 top2 - none / top 6 - none
2015/16 top2 - none / top 6 - none
2016/17 top2 - none / top 6 - twenty six
2017/18 top 2 - four / top 6 - thirteen

2018/19 top 2 - nineteen / top 6 five

We have never been a side that has looked like getting automatic promotion. The only falling apart we have done is slipping out of the playoffs on two occasions in 8 seasons.

8 more wins for the playoffs
13 wins should see up promoted in a normal season. Unfortunately at present the season is projected to be an outlier with three sides pulling away at present.

"Sorry for the pessimism, but it's far from done and dusted, could well go to the wire, got to keep racking up points and hopefully beat Norwich in a few weeks."

Even those who are confident, even predicting auto promotion, don't believe "its done and dusted."

At least I don't think so.

Anyone think it is? Go on, speak up if you do.

Great stats Kebab. Out of all of them, I found this to be the most surprising:

2014/15 top2 - none / top 6 - none
2015/16 top2 - none / top 6 - none

Oddly I never realised at the time that we’d been *that* mediocre for two successive seasons. Must have had my rose-tinted spectacles on!

43, does this help?

21/09/2014 - 25/10/2014 Darko Milanič
26/10/2014 - 30/06/2015 Neil Redfearn
01/07/2015 - 18/10/2015 Uwe Rösler
20/10/2015 - 30/06/2016 Steve Evans

dont believe auto is done and dusted but do believe we will never be in a better position to achieve it just too many things could blow up in our faces and cost us big time. What if we lose pablo or pontus and cooper for a few months all at the same time say where would we be. I think MB is a genius for turning a team that i and a lot of others thought looked like relegation fodder into a team of winners but now we have to get serious if we have best chance ever of going up then time for Radz to get the hand in the pocket and splash on the players who are gonna push us over the line.If we do nothing in January and dont make it then the powers that be will be hung out to dry and all the good football and feel good factor we have now will be lost due to their failure to try and push us that last half yard. Sometimes you just gotta take that chance and put that extra tuppence worth in

It’s telling that in 8 seasons we have only been the top two for 5 weeks

Yet this season alone we have been in it 19 weeks

Completely agree LDL. Whilst I understand the theory behind not wanting to upset the balance that they currently have another goalkeeper is an absolute must and if we are getting one then we should be aiming for one that is better than what we have.

We currently are without
Cooper
Pearce
Dallas
Bamford
Roberts
Berardi
Brown
And have lost Saiz and Blackman since the season begun.

We are told Roberts and Bamford are close but the rest appear still some time away.

I’d love to see a keeper, Holgate and a couple of attacking options arrive.

Even the smell of an oily rag would be luxury at this stage.

Westwood started for Wendies their last 2 games so he does not appears to be an option for Leeds right now.

great work on stats kebab.

Ive put my money where mouth is and put money on us going up as champions. That is after feeling in ore season that Bielsa would find the championship a challenge with this squad, he’s not only turned around my thoughts but to such a degree that I’ve pinned colours to mast quite firmly.

These players have been through the letting things slip, they know how it works. Bielsa and his team are professional and have experienced success, they know what to do.

The big difference this year compared to other years is the balance of power behind the scenes. Previously the manager was always at mercy of owner, now the balance is different, the coach has far more credibility, backing if the fans, clout and far greater media exposure now.

I think we’ll lose more matches, we’ll have another 2 wins in 9 period etc but unlike first half is season we’re starting this half with a points and goal difference advantage already, I really do think we’ll be fine.

As for side coming up on the outside I’d keep an eye on stoke.
