Peter Hill Wood

The man is dead. Don't think he was much admired by fans on here, possibly because many are young and he oversaw years of on going transition, but he did serve Arsenal for many decades at the board level. In fact since 1962 he's been on the board, leaving in 2013.
That's quite remarkable and people like him are missing from English football especially at top level. Guys who have overseen many years of success (and failures) and are bought up as fans. But you could say on the other hand is that they can get left behind with the times and Arsenal did.

That debate however is for another day, so RIP PHW!

Also one more thing, it was so dead in the past couple of months on here. Funnily enough it coincided with the unbeaten run. Now all of a sudden, pests are out doubting Emery since the run ended. Never seen so much negativity. You'd think Arsenal have zero chance of making CL football next season judging by the reaction

Was a great chairman overall, oversaw some real successful periods for the club, aswell as a stadium move.

Unfortunately, I'll always remember him for the "thank you for your interest in our affairs" quip. Couldn't quite get over that one.

Frightening to think of what I would have experienced with Arsenal if Mr. Hill Wood had not appointed Mr Wenger.

Excuse me? Younger fans? Its those of us who remember the 80s when Hill-Wood gave away his shares because he didn't like football and wouldn't work to get any investment. He sold his shares to David Dein and called his investment 'dead money'.

Hill-Wood did not appoint Wenger. He did not appoint George Graham. He in fact sold the majority of his shares to Dein and Danny Fiszman. They re-built Arsenal.
