Poorest squad we have had for 10 years?

Seriously how the fack are we 5th in the league with the utter dross of a squad we have. I have been saying it since the start of the season that this is arguably the weakest squad we have had for years and it showed once again today.

All the bs about the investment that has gone into the squad is ridiculously misleading considering we have sold a sheet lot of players who are probably better than the ones we have.

Ox, Walcott and Sanchez would all get into the shower of sh!t team. Only Arsenal would jump all over a freebie like Litchsteiner and have a 19 year old player like Guendouzi as a consistent first team starter.

6th last season so the new manager gets a net spend of £65M which is disgraceful. We do not have a single genuine winger in the squad, a commanding defender and a Midfield which is on par to the likes of Everton and Wolves.

Then we buy Leno who has not shown anything whatsoever to suggest he is going to be our long term number 1.

And throughout all of this we are getting rid of Ramsey and Ozil because we have an endless pit of "quality" already within the squad.

I never thought our defence could become worst than last season but it has and blame lies with Emery who has failed to make any improvements at the back. In fact, we have regressed with these high line tactics.

Same sheet different manager

The FA have always reacted to Pundits and Media, all the way back to the van Nistelrooy Keown incident. If the refs miss it & the media or pundits dont make it a big deal then nothing will be done.

I ws actually surprised the Salah dive against Newcastle was even reviewed because a lot of suspicious dives have not been acted on by this so called comittee set up to review diving incidents.

Diving is such a subjective matter because what I think must constitute a penalty is not how the next person sees it and the laws are not very specific.

I personally think the refs are not up to the job anymore.Refs like Oliver are not as strong as they used to be and just go with the decision that will make his performances go under less scrutiny. When Michael Oliver broke through he wasnt scared to make a decision that would anger Fergie.

Ever since he became Englands top Ref his decision making is weak and typical. Explains why he game Real Madrid that penalty against Juve last season. Just another weak ref who want to advance his career with UEFA. Funny how he still didnt go to the world cup.

I guess FIFA can still spot spineless refs.

This has nothing to do with liverpool though, they just take advantage of the rules. Salah is a diver though.

Tbf of course the refs are not up to standard anymore. Look at the abuse Michael Oliver's wife got when he actually made a correct decision. It's a thankless job that barely anyone wants to do anymore.

No one can say Liverpool didn't deserve to win but the referee was a disgrace. The 2 penalties given were extremely harsh.

I mean Mo Salah doing a Bardy and waiting for the tiniest amount of contact when in the box and the falling over. Then we have the 6ft2 defender Lovren falling over like he's Sterling.

Every single time a Liverpool player fell over it was a foul for some reason.

Why wasn't Mane sent off? That's a red card offence
Why wasn't Salah given a 3 game ban for diving against Newcastle? Other players have been given bans for way less than that.

Liverpool are clearly the media and Refs darlings. Cant wait for VAR.

Truest post on here. Salah was offside for Mane goal too. Praying city win the league, this bias to the media darlings is a disgrace

Scored a lot of goals that are offside this season and some soft pens. He hasnt been great at all. A lot of stat padding but funny he is still Liverpools best attacker by far.

It tells you why Liverpool are 9 points clear, its more about the resolve and work ethic than amazing form of their attackers

If any of you watched that game last night and your overriding thought afterwards was how Arsenal had been hard done by by the ref, you're living in fantasy world.

Their second pen could be classed as 'harsh' but seeing as its award merely enforced a rule that all clubs were made aware of before the season, it was also 'fair'.

Salah didn't interfere with play for Mane's goal, so wasn't ruled offside and the first penalty was so obviously coming, the only person that seemed not to realise it in the build up was, unfortunately for us, a guy bought into the club for his 'experience'.

By the time Oliver missed the pen for Lacazette, it wasn't even that annoying. By then I was actually counting down the minutes, hoping we'd not concede a 6th.

I couldn't care less about if we deserved to win or not, I hate cheating and media and fa bias but what I hate more is when idiot fans try to pave over it with stupid caveats like it's OK because we deserved to lose.

This kind of idiot mentality from our fans is why we keep getting shafted like this. Do you think media and even refs don't see the likes of AFTV and act upon the information there?

Your squad is a shower of Douglas Herds. Only player I’d have at Spurs is Auba as back up to Kane.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Torreira would get in infront if Dier. Other than that you probably right.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I disagree with that. The main weakness at Arsenal is the shambolic defence. Torreira, Auba, Laca, Ozil and Guendouzi are decent players. But when the defence panics ans concedes silly fouls and leaks like a sieve it doesn't matter what your strikers do, you will still concede. We have consistent goalscorers, Emery just needs to sort out the defence.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Grand Cannon,
Agree with most of the substance of your comment. Yes, Auba has scored goals, but where was he yesterday? Arsenal got of to a great start but failed to make it work just as they did a few days prior.
Sadly, this team is like a ship without a rudder, it is difficult to see what direction it is headed other than down. Is Emery part of the solution or part of the problem? Is he just discovering what you and others have been saying about the defense, did he do any homework during the Summer? There is no doubt that Man U will pass them into 5th place. This is the worst squad of performers in 20 years and it wont be turned around anytime soon.

Time to air out the closet, bring in some young talent and start a serious 3-5 year rebuilding program.

A good first step would be a change in ownership!
