CHO to Bayern

Looks like there's some legs to this story and another failure to bring a youngster in the 1st team and develop him.

Didn't think we'd let CHO go but feels like he could be on his way in January, I believe we're holding out for a £22 million offer.

Thoughts guys?

Thoughts?

I think I could run our transfer system better!
----------------------------------------------------------------------

It's a shambles in all honesty, we never give youth a chance even though we have such a great youth system.

Another case of we'll try to sign him back in 3 years time...
----------------------------------------------------------------------

A shambles doesn't do it justice.

And what sort of message does it send to the rest of the development squad if the jewel in the crown of it, is sold off surplus to requirements?

The may as well all wrap their hand in and seek employment elsewhere, we don't deserve them!

I didn’t pay attention to these rumours at first but like you wonder if there’s some truth behind it. On one hand it’s quite an easy rumour to make, give the rhetoric that Chelsea won’t give him gametime, he’s disillusioned and that a Bundesliga club will take him, a similar path to Sancho. But then that’s also a relatively likely thing to happen

Still, you’d also think the rumours are just rumours as (Biggish explained this well on another thread) it should be easy to convince CHO to stay. He is still so young, and while it is disappointing he hasn’t played more, allowances (imo) can be made as it is Sarri’s first season, and he has still at least made some minutes. He’s in a situation where it’s likely the three wingers ahead of him (two of them 30 and over) will leave in the next 18 months. And if it’s money he’s after we’d likely give it him too.

Guess we’ve just got to wait and see. If he truely wants to leave not much we can do. I’d blame the board for making choices and carrying on the instilling of a culture that makes it hard for youngsters to be assimilated into the first team (as opposed to blaming Sarri). Having said that, if we sell with a buy back clause it could still work out, if still disappointing he feels he has to leave in the first place.

I think it's a bit naive to think that Bayern would agree to a buy back clause - it's not Dynamo Dresden we're dealing with here!

Is Sarri known for promoting youth? If so, it could work out as mentioned about your wingers. Players are need to be shown that they have a path to the first team, otherwise a team like Bayern, even if cash isn't as good as Chelsea, would be tempting.

It may need a culture change from the very top to change things around and stick by it. Short term pain for long term change/gain.

This would really wind me up if this rumour were true & Chelsea sell him to Bayern Munchen and then Chelsea sell him without any buy back clause. He could be better than Arjen Robben plus Eden Hazard if he fulfills his potential. He would be a bigger loss than Chelsea losing Ryan Bertrand,Patrick Van Aanholt,Kevin De Bryne and Mohammad Salah in recent times {last 8-9 seasons}.

I echo everyone whose said installing a buy back clause would signal some sense of improvement. I'm all in favor of him going on loan but cutting ties with him completely at 18 y/o would just be repeating the same mistakes.

If the Pulisic deal is going ahead, which is edging more likely by the day, I dunno why we don't offer them CHO as a sweeter on an 18 month loan. Even if he'd play backup b**** to Sancho there's no better breeding ground in Europe for young attacking players than Dortmund at the moment (Pulisic being a great example), playing or not they'll take care of him with the added incentive they look likely to win the Bundesliga this season giving him the sense of what it's like to be a winner. But that's just me.

He is staying at Chelsea. Worry not.

Disgraceful if true. I've already done an article on his though:

If Hudson-Odoi does move on in the summer...good for him knowing his worth, after being messed around by Sarri.
