He's been a breath of fresh air this season, but over the Christmas period his performances have dipped somewhat, finally culminating in him being woeful v Liverpool yesterday.
There's clearly a great player there, but he ain't used to the ridiculous scheduling yet. Combine that with blood and thunder nature of the premier league, then you can see why he might be struggling of late.
The fixtures are easing up a little bit - can we afford to rest him? Guendouzi has been encouraging this season, but he's still learning. I never know what the Fack Xhaka is gonna do next.
Is it time for Elneny?
Torreira needs a breather

Torreira is not top class. Yesterday confirmed my opinion of him. Always dives and goes to the ground and touchs his a$$ like he has been facked from behind.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That was his first poor game , dominated your midfield at the Emirates. Fabinho had a mare in the first game bust has come on leaps and bounds, please think before you post.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Fabinho was shiiiiit yesterday.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Wasn’t specifically talking bout yesterday , in recent games he’s been one of there better players since he looked woeful against us.

If we were to give Torreira a rest vs Fulham then I'd have both Laca and Auba up front. Just to give them something to be worried about and not pressing too high. Otherwise we will get overrun in midfield.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Would expect them to start vs Fulham
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I just wouldn't play Xhaka in midfield against Fulham. They are just going to play on the counter and we don't need someone so loose with his passing.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Thank god you're not in charge.

True. I am just a fan who thinks you do need pace to play top flight football.

Xhaka and Torreira is easily our best CM, regardless of the opposition.
Xhaka isn’t good enough long term but this season he should start whenever fit

Did I mention it was your quote at any time? But you continuously jump at it. Bit obvious thats what you believe or why would it bother you so much?

It's obvious because your next comment after suggest it. I am not naive but no need to come back here. Better we dont share a comment or debate anymore.

Geets, you agreed on another thread that Xhaka's ball retention and passing isn't great, and you don't deny he isn't exactly blessed with pace.
He is 'experienced' yet, as we saw last night when he could have gotten himself needlessly sent off, he still is prone to moments of madness.
Yes, he plays with heart, but he often lacks commitment.
This is a genuine question, and I am totally open considering other opinions. Apart from 'Emery trusting him' and him being the best of a bad bunch, what reason is there for playing him?

Unfortunately we need Torreira to play all the games until the winter break. We now have United breathing down our necks for 5th and having that donkey Xhaka in midfield is pretty much surrendering that position.
