Puelis

Credit to Claude today, in the end, with a bit of help from Michael akeane, he got it right - and I slated his starting XI. We didn’t even need Maddison in the end. The Albrighton sub was the right call.

A very Tony Pulis performance, no real quality aside from Vardys moment and we well and truly parked the bus in the second half, but you can’t argue with 9 points from 12.

I still don’t think he’s right for us long term, we just don’t create enough and I think eventually that will be our undoing - but for now let’s see if he can get us 7th. With the likes of Everton being so poor, I think it’s between us and wolves to be honest. Well done Claude, that’s a great points return over a nightmare Christmas period

Puel in (for now)

What is this style of football though nev? We look atrocious. We barely create anything and just pass it backwards. I can’t see this evolution that we are moving to. It seems to be getting points but in fairness so does Sam Allardyces methods

It's not though we play possession football and now the players are getting the hang of it the passing is getting more direct and forward.Yesterday was a poor scrappy game like Cardiff but we won.

So now we’re no longer passing the ball sideways and trying to wear the opposition down - like the Wenger-sequence style that Puel was seemingly trying to emulate - and instead moving the ball quickly, directly sand with risk in the opposition half - like the style that we’re supposedly trying to moving on from - we’re looking better, which was Puel’s masterplan all along.

Keep up, Black Starr.

Try being me yesterday after 9 pints Dunge. My auto-incorrect was on overdrive!

The Everton game was a great case in point about what is wrong with Puel’s system.

In the first half, we played passing possession football. Everton played narrow and tight so we couldn’t play in between the lines, and we had zero answers. Not only that, we failed to keep possession because most of our passes wentto them.

Second half, Albrighton came on and instantly had a connection with Vardy. Vardy finally got a touch of the football (did he have one in the first half) and, in what was the better tactical move by Puel, Choudhury pushed up in the 3 to enable us to press high up. That press resulted in Evertob’s mistake and Vardy and Leicester’s only chance of the game went in.

So, great change by Puel at half time? I don’t see it that way. I don’t understand how after 12 months, we still have to get it totally wrong for 45 minutes before we can get it right.

If Puel changes just slightly, and plays interjects his possession approach with some more energy, a higher press and every now and again a more direct approach to involve Vardy, I think he’s got it. I’m with him.

Whilst he continues so wait 60 minutes of a game to set us up in the way we should start, I will continue to be frustrated.

To be more positive, I was once again inprsssed by Choudhury and especially when he was pushed further forward. Pereira continues to shine and finally Marc Albrighton. Oh Marc. He’s fast becoming my hero.

He came on in that game and for me, single handededly dragged the whole team up to his level. He’s been continually dropped by all managers since his time here, and he continually proves why he should be one of the first names on the team sheet.

For me, his professionalism and ability is fast making him a leicester legend. I love you Marc.

Turns out I don’t need any pints for auto-incorrect to take over my posts! Im sure you get the gist!

Sadly our results over Christmas have just papered over the cracks.
The facts are ,we should have a great end to the year with a semi-final against Burton to look forward to,yes we had some good or lucky results, but this doesnt tell the whole story.
We have a manager who doesnt know his best team , doesnt get the best out his players, makes strange team selections, doesnt make good substitutions,
and has produced some dire performances which are too frequent.
We should have been in Europa league position last season ,but he messed up, we should have got further in cups, but he messed up, we should have more points this season and still be in league cup, but he got that wrong again,
A coupe of decent results doesnt hide the fact that he has achieved nothing, yes i dont expect us to win the
league, but i do expect better than the dross we are playing at present.
Yesterday was like 2 mediocre championship teams , good result but poor performance, yet again.
He is very lucky to be here.We are not lucky to have him.

Mersey this is football you play another team who does want to play to your plan and good manager sees that and changes things you really can see no good in someone, who is bringing the youngsters through changing the way we play and has got us to seventh by beating three good teams and only losing because of a penalty miss. i am not even going to bother with Thorney he hates Puel more than he does Ref's

To be fair Nev, Puel did the right thing at half time yesterday as per my post on the other thread. Albrighton and Choudhury made a big difference in getting Vardy involved in the play.

I do like that Puel is bringing youth through. I like that he also recognises when to stop flogging a horse as he seems to have done with Gray.

He seems a gentleman and handled the last year with a huge amount of dignity and in a sensitive way.

I am with thorney though. I see a set of players struggling, and I personally believe we won because of luck not judgment yesterday. I’m wanting Puel to change and succeed. I just feel that things just are not right. When we reach safety it will be interesting to see if Luel can push this team on, or whether we begin to stutter again.

I predict the latter, but I’m happy to be wrong. The last 10 games of the season should be used to gauge our summer plans and I want the club to be identifying the right person to lead us forward. Happy for Puel to move upstairs and support a new manager in taking us to the next stage.

My views won’t change unless I see Puel change his tactics. For me it’s only a matter of time until they are exposed.

Nev, just say things as i see it.Dont hate anyone(ex wife excepted)
Puel is a decent guy, just doesnt seem to have that bit of french flair or positivity.
He hasnt done badly, but could have done so much better with what he has.
Not the right man for our club.
As for my opinion re refs, havnt said much this season, havnt had to .Their performances speak for themselves, as does our lack of refs in world cup, and the need for VAR.
Like Puel, they are not good enough.
