Solanke gone for 20 mil

That is a lot of money.

Hope he does well.

It’s still no barometer, loads of players have done well against boys and failed to do it against men. Scoring seven goals in Holland isn’t that impressive. He just looks an average footballer.

Loads of of kids have done well and then been good players for first teams. Not many have been top goalscorers and world cups and European cups for their age groups and scored goals in a foreign country at a young age. Its easy to criticise, when you don't know much about the player, since all you've really seen is him not breaking into Liverpool's first team, I suppose.

He was never top scorer at the world cup. And plenty of players that have or been best player have fallen by the way side. Seen him for Liverpool and England’s youth teams and stand by my opinion. He’s basically Benik Afobe.

Why on Earth have we let Clyne go out on loan?

What a silly decision. In a pivotal run in too.

Strange decision. Imagine City let Danilo or Delph leave. Both are bench players. Apparently we are letting Clyne leave to help Bournemouth with their injury problem in the same position. We seem to forget that we have the same injury crisis.

Maybe it was a condition of the Solanke deal?

Learn to read. World cup for his age group. You're saying nothing. Yes many young players failed to make the grade, OK. We know this. Now here's the part that many young players don't do, again this will require reading, make top goalscorer in the World and European cups for their age group. He is nothing like Afobe. Afobe levelled out when he was in the U19's and didn't go much further only scoring a couple. Solanke was top goalscorer in the U20 World Cup and has 8 in 15 for the U21's. Completely different players also, have you watched either of them play?

He wasn’t top scorer at the u20 world cup. There’s styles are similar in that they are average footballers that can finish when presented it - though that remains to be seen for Solanke at senior level.

Their styles aren't similar at all. If you think both are average, that's fine but that doesn't make their styles similar. I thought I read a while back he was top scorer, turns out he was joint second but received the best player of the tournament award, which is even more impressive considering he wasn't even top scorer.

I really don't think you've watched him play, considering you think he's similar to Afobe. Afobe used pace and power in that age group, which didn't translate as well when he eventually got to an age when it wasn't as effective. Solanke doesn't have pace. He's more about hold up and finishing, although he never showed it at Liverpool with his limited chances. He's still young and could still go on to have a good career. He has much more potential than Afobe ever did. He didn't suit our style of play. I think he'll do well.

Afobe was faster but like Solanke limited and scored goals at a younger age group. I’ve watched him because I wanted to see what the fuss was about, not been impressed. I just don’t see a great deal of potential based on what I’ve seen for England and Liverpool. That’s not to say he can’t go on and have a good career, because strikers develop and different rates and if he can score goals will always be valued. But he looks more like a player that will end up in the championship than one that has a good premier league career. Time will tell.

Obviously as an England fan I’d like him to kill it so happy to be wrong on this. Though with Kane and the better young strikers we have it’s not a position we’ll ve desperate for him to make it at prem level.

Ibes 23, hes not ripping up trees but hes decent and had some good games for them. Even at 15-18m hes a decent squad player, English and has pace as an asset from the bench etc.

Solankes a decent play too probably worth 15-20m on his talent and what hes shown for England unders. Didnt get that many chances with us, was unlucky/wasteful at times but i felt hes got a lot to his game and with games and confidence could have a good career as a solid premier league player.

I wouldnt write them off so soon, hope we've covered ourselves just incase too with sell on fees buyback clauses or w.e.
